It’s time for my TWAU Episode 2 review! Before I start, let me just add a little disclaimer. So in these reviews I will be talking about the ending of the previous episode. This kind of needs to be done as the start of every episode picks up from the ending of the previous. However, I will not talk about the ending of the current episode I am reviewing, but I will be talking about certain things that happen story wise. I know TWAU is almost ten years old, but I just wanted to give this “spoiler” warning in case anyone hasn’t had the pleasure of playing the game.
Episode 2 kicks off with Bigby being interrogated by a detective, after Snow White’s head is found decapitated on the steps of The Woodland. Unfortunately for the Fables, the mundies had discovered the head. Bigby is going through all kinds of emotions, and to be honest, I felt the anger he did, even though this is like my tenth playthrough of the game since it came out.
It’s really interesting seeing how Bigby interacts with the Mundies. It’s clear he can’t come out and say that he knows something. Luckily, Crane was able to get The Thirteenth Floor (it’s not mentioned in the episode, but it’s safe to assume it’s a group of witches) to cast a spell to wipe the memory of the officers in the precinct.
Back at The Woodlands, is when one of our choices from the previous episode comes into play. Depending on who you arrested at The Trip Trap, is who you’ll be interrogating. You can either play the good guy or the bad guy, but the information you get isn’t all too relevant about the case.

Now I can’t really continue without going into spoiler territory for the episode here. This isn’t meant as a “recap” of the episode, but the first twenty or so minutes play a major role in the story.
Snow White isn’t dead. You find this out after interrogating your prisoner. While you were at The Trip Trap, she was investigating a river that T.J( Toad’s son) said he saw people dump a body at. You encounter both Toad and his son during the last episode when you eventually go to Woodies apartment. It doesn’t matter if you choose to go there first or last.
The body belonged to the headless Fable. And after an examination of the body, it turned out that it was really a troll who was glamoured. And the Troll turned out to be Lily(Holly’s sister).
The second episode is where the game really picks up at. We end up encountering a new fable by the name of Georgie, who owns a strip club called The Pudding and Pie. The strippers there are a bit “more” than just strippers. Georgie keeps them under his thumb by charging them “fees” and it just so happened that Lily and Faith worked for him.
We also encounter Nerissa there, or you might know her better as “the little mermaid”. After finding Georgie’s black book and seeing Lily had an appointment at a hotel for the night before, Nerissa helps us find out what happened to her, by giving us a key to said hotel.
This here is where the “side story” from the previous episode about Beauty and Beast evolves. It turns out Beauty was working at this hotel as a receptionist, and after leading Bigby to the room where Lily was the night before she was murdered, Beast shows up. He mistakes the situation as Beauty working as a prostitute and attacks Bigby.
If you’ve read all that, this is just a quick rundown of the story. In my opinion, the second episode is where the series starts to pick up. Episode 1 was just there as an introduction, but the real story starts to form in Smokes and Mirrors.
The slow introduction of new fables is something I enjoy. They don’t throw all these characters at you and expect you to know who they are, and the fables we are accustomed to aren’t what we expect. From the very first time you see Georgie Porgie, you can tell he is a total scumbag. So when I had the option of smashing up his club, you can bet your ass I took it.
Episode 2 also fleshes out Bigby’s and Snow’s relationship even further. We see how he acts when he thinks she is dead in the interactions with the detective.
Episode 2 also shows us more of the fate of less fortunate Fables. Holly reported her sister missing weeks prior, but no one at The Woodlands listened to her. Fables who are down and out of their luck turn to drugs, hooking, etc. On top of that, because of the cost The Thirteenth Floor charges for Glamours, a lot of Fables buy “black market ones.”
When it comes to choices in this episode, there aren’t really too many to make. If you want to, you can beat on your suspect at the beginning of the episode, and you have the choice of doing the same Georgie, to some degree. But there is nothing that really effects the story of episode 2..
I remember when I first played Episode 2 and the anger I felt at the ending. It was completely mind blowing and was a huge shocker. I mean, it was mind blowing, and it made me want to rip the head off of someone. The story in Episode 2 all wraps up in the hotel room Lily was in. Bigby is the Big Bad Wolf, and at the end of Episode 2, he’s ready to let it show! But I’ll talk about that more in the next review of Episode 3 on Thursday!

Blancanieves no está muerta. Lo descubres después de interrogar a tu prisionero. Las strippers allí son un poco “más” que simples strippers. Georgie los mantiene bajo su control cobrándoles "honorarios" y dio la casualidad de que Lily y Faith trabajaban para él.
También nos encontramos con Nerissa allí, o quizás la conozcas mejor como "la sirenita". Después de encontrar el libro negro de Georgie y ver que Lily tenía una cita en un hotel para la noche anterior, Nerissa nos ayuda a averiguar qué le pasó dándonos la llave de dicho hotel.
Aquí es donde evoluciona la "historia paralela" del episodio anterior sobre La Bella y la Bestia. Resulta que Bella estaba trabajando en este hotel como recepcionista, y después de llevar a Bigby a la habitación donde estaba Lily la noche antes de que la asesinaran, aparece Bestia. Confunde la situación con Beauty trabajando como prostituta y ataca a Bigby.
Si has leído todo eso, esto es solo un resumen rápido de la historia. En mi opinión, el segundo episodio es donde la serie comienza a recuperarse. El episodio 1 solo estaba allí como una introducción, pero la verdadera historia comienza a formarse en Smokes and Mirrors.
La lenta introducción de nuevas fábulas es algo que disfruto. No te lanzan todos estos personajes y esperan que sepas quiénes son, y las fábulas a las que estamos acostumbrados no son lo que esperamos. Desde la primera vez que ves a Georgie Porgie, te das cuenta de que es un cabrón total. Entonces, cuando tuve la opción de destrozar su club, puedes apostar tu trasero a que lo tomé.
El episodio 2 también desarrolla aún más la relación de Bigby y Snow. Vemos cómo actúa cuando cree que ella está muerta en las interacciones con el detective.
El episodio 2 también nos muestra más sobre el destino de Fables menos afortunados. Holly denunció la desaparición de su hermana semanas antes, pero nadie en The Woodlands la escuchó. Las fábulas que están deprimidas y sin suerte recurren a las drogas, el enganche, etc. Además de eso, debido al costo que cobra The Thirteenth Floor por Glamours, muchas fábulas compran "las del mercado negro".
Cuando se trata de opciones en este episodio, en realidad no hay demasiadas para hacer. Si lo desea, puede vencer a su sospechoso al comienzo del episodio, y tiene la opción de hacer lo mismo Georgie, hasta cierto punto. Pero no hay nada que realmente afecte la historia del episodio 2...
Recuerdo cuando jugué por primera vez el Episodio 2 y la ira que sentí al final. Fue completamente alucinante y fue una gran sorpresa. Quiero decir, fue alucinante, y me dio ganas de arrancarle la cabeza a alguien. La historia del Episodio 2 termina en la habitación de hotel en la que se encontraba Lily. Bigby es el Lobo Feroz, y al final del Episodio 2, ¡está listo para mostrarlo! ¡Pero hablaré más sobre eso en la próxima revisión del Episodio 3 el jueves!
