Pokémon X & Y ( Nintendo 3DS)

Several years ago I had the opportunity to try two video games developed by the company Game Freak, which were called Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, which is also known as pocket monsters. Both games tell the story of a character who leaves his hometown to help a teacher to complete the pokedeck, but with the dream and main goal of becoming the best pokémon master. Something that is repeated in each of the games of the Pokémon franchise. To do this our protagonist must leave the city on a journey through several cities where on the way we must capture pokemon, evolve them to make them stronger and thus be able to face each of the 8 Gym leaders of the city that we reach, besides facing a team whose vision is to conquer the world. A game that I found very entertaining, beyond that as I said, its aim is to simulate both the previous ones and most of the later installments, that the truth is that I have not played all the games, but I had the pleasure of trying these two versions and each of them seemed interesting and quite nice.

In terms of gameplay the game is similar to the other installments, where we control a character of a people whose dream is to be the best pokémon trainer and for this begins a journey through a number of cities (8) in which you must face their gym leaders to various fights, plus as I mentioned on the road we can capture pokémon, It is important to mention that this is not done alone and is accompanied by 4 friends that at the moment I do not remember their names, but it is something different from the presentations that I have tried so far. The combat system is also the same as previous versions where we see that each creature has 4 skills, but what is different is that this version presents new pokemon with new skills, something that I found very good and I was quite enthusiastic.

Another thing that is important to mention is that due to the size of the scenarios through which we move and the amount of pokémon that we do not find on the way is that we have available up to 3 Pokédexs, where the purpose is to complete these pokédexs during the trip that if I remember correctly each one had the capacity of up to 100 Pokémon. The good thing about this release is that the Pokémon are much more attractive since they have special attacks and new abilities. The difficulty of the game does not seem to me to be so high, however and due to the length of the territory and the many hours that we can spend in the game to try to complete it is that as we move forward the difficulty increased and we can lose several battles (which was my case) and which we must repeat if we want to continue to complete the story to emphasize that it is to beat 8 gym leaders, get 1 medal and each to participate in the Pokémon league and become a master, in addition to completing all the pokédexs to help a teacher.

The game has new game modes available that make it very interesting and even apart from the missions that we must complete, there is also a mini-game available. I also remember that we could even fight with up to 5 pokemon of the same species, which represented a great challenge and had the option to battle or flee if we wanted to since this mode represented a great challenge for the players. The game has 3 main menus where one we see the map that the player uses to go through the areas, a battle area where we have the different game modes where we fight and a menu where we organize our team of pokémons, besides having available other sections such as game settings for example. We have two styles of turn-based fights, one with the other trainers of the cities or leaders and others with wild pokémons that is where the pokéballs enter to be able to capture them and complete the pokéballs.

The game is not only about battles, mini-games and missions, but it is also important to train the pokémon to improve their statistics, such as attack, defense, speed, life points, among others. To improve the aforementioned statistics we have the Super Training mode where what we have to do is shoot some soccer balls to some marked areas in order to accumulate a series of points. In short, I can tell you that these games in terms of gameplay seems to me that it is quite complete, very entertaining and where players live a great adventure.

Now we go to the technical part, starting with the graphics. Graphically Pokémon XY is not one of the best in terms of Nintendo 3DS games, but it doesn't mean that it's not bad either. As for the things I like we see the animations where we see a variety of movement of pokémon in battles that however is not the best but if I liked, in addition to the visual effects both those we see when the pokémon attack and show their skills, as those great exhibitions when a pokémon hit with an attack on the contrary. The artistic designs are the best of the game and by far, the truth is that the characters look beautiful, they are very well created. What I don't like is the visualization and the color palette also seems basic to me. The fluidity of the game is good and I didn't notice many errors, which is positive from my point of view. In short, we have a graphic section that complies, but up to there, nothing that impresses much less.

The sound if that is one of the best things in the game, as some good sound effects, but the best is the soundtrack, with some good musical themes that are quite good, motivating and very entertaining, but the best is the variety that we hear the themes and most importantly is that they are of quality. The game is perfectly translated into Spanish and also has dialogues, which are heard really well and we also see texts on the screen. A success in the graphic section by the creators of the game.

In conclusion, Pokémon X and Y are good games in the RPG and adventure genres. That in terms of gameplay gives us good entertainment and we have many things we can do in the game, for the good variety of game modes, mini-games, training and missions that we have available, a game that is A1 in terms of gameplay. While the graphics are not the best, because it has things in which you can highlight the artistic designs and animations that although many people have complained that they are basic, I personally liked them. The sound is quite outstanding, mainly the good work with the soundtrack. In short, a game that brings us good news and it's fun to try them.
