The oldest anarchy server in Minetest

Alright, now that we've gotten the obvious FitMC meme out of the way with that title, today we'll be looking at one of Minetest's oldest actively updated anarchy servers.

A house I built on the server in question

"Oops! All Chaos" is one of Minetest's oldest anarchy servers. It's built on top of the MineClone2 game mode and features the Faithful32 texture pack, giving it a feeling very similar to the early years of Minecraft.

While there is a much older server that's still online, I have ruled it out as it is not running Minetest 5.0+ and can't be connected to using the latest Minetest version. That being the JT2 test server.

There's also another server which is slightly older, and while it can be connected to via the latest Minetest version, they're not using Minetest as their server and instead use something else that's compatible. This would be the far more popular Catlandia server.

Now, onto this server in particular. It appears to have started on April 1st of 2019 with the earliest date I could confirm it being active being June of 2019 via the Internet Archive.

I've spent some time playing, even building a house in a secluded area of the server. You'll find plenty of houses as well as ruins while playing, and the spawn area is surprisingly well kept.

There seems to be far less of a destruction mindset on this server, far less than other anarchy servers. While you will see plenty of ruins, it's nothing like what you would see on a server like 2b2t.

This server also has a gameplay mechanic I wouldn't expect to see in a game like this. If you're in the dark for too long, you'll start taking damage. I'm guessing this is to discourage people from building unlit structures.

As with most anarchy servers, some areas of the map are essentially lag traps and will cause extreme lag spikes, so watch out for those.

I'm considering running a weekly challenge here on Hive regarding activities on this server, such as building. Aside from that, if you decide to play on this server, consider fixing any ruins you see. Might as well set a good example.

As for how to play, you can head over to minetest.net to download the latest Minetest version. The server is available in the public game list, your first join may take quite some time as the server's assets are downloaded.

Also, neoxian.city has a server too if you're looking for something more building oriented and less chaotic. You can often find the information to join it in their weekly newsletter.

If you play, maybe we'll see each other online. I hope everyone has a good day/night.
