My Biggest Gaming Wish This Holiday Season: A Good Graphics Card

My biggest gaming wish this Christmas season was to obtain a fairly powerful graphics card for my PC. I bought my gaming PC in May this year with only a good integrated graphics processor. But something great is missing without the GPU. You may know that good graphics cards are so damn expensive these days that you could buy a new gaming console, laptop or hold a Christmas reunion party feast with the money in my country instead.

I need this one or something higher spec for Christmas. (Image source)

This year of 2021 was kind of crappy for PC gaming indeed. The Covid Pandemic here placed schoolkids indoors, making them demand gaming PCs for "online learning" from their poor, clueless parents. Computer shops/dealers also make false shortages to jack up prices. And also the Crypto bull market craze this year made would-be business investors to try out some experimental crypto mining. Add in the trouble with China were many of the GPU parts are made and you got a damn, tasty soup of GPU goodness being very expensive.

Common sense would be too wait it out until GPU stock prices stabilize next year and play on less, graphics-intensive games instead.

Big deal! Why not do some console gaming instead???

Two words that cannot be done with console gaming: Modding and Emulation.

Modding, because you can make old and new PC games so much damn better with mods (add in adult mods). And Emulation, because all the exclusive arcade, Sega, Playstation, and Nintendo games up to the 8th generation of video game consoles can be played on a PC with a very good graphics card and a nice emulator software program. Some of you might argue that emulation can be done on certain game consoles with storage devices. But Emulation is much easier to do it on the PC.

Having trouble setting it all up because of being a noob? Well, Google and Youtube are my friends!

All is not in despair, however. I can still do those things but with certain selected games on my humble PC.

Thank you for reading about my gaming wish rant this Christmas season. May the Almighty grant all of your holiday wishes to come true.

Merry Christmas and a joyful New Year to you all, HIVE community!
