I always find it great to check out these once a year events that bring together a huge amount of public and developers, 2023 is being a year where gaming is in the main focus and releases from top studios is always followed by millions of people, that's why in this Summer Game Fest that marks the start of the gaming season we always see some interesting announcements and in this post I'm going to cover some of my favourite games yet to be released.
I had been looking forward to some of these conferences because a lot of these games had yet to show any gameplay, only cinematic trailers, and what a surprise when I found that games like Mortal Kombat 1 and Alan Wake 2 presented a pretty solid gameplay session as well as giving us a little more context on their stories.
On the side of Mortal Kombat 1 we could confirm a couple of things like the reboot of the franchise and its story mode now by the god Liu Kang, also a reimagining of most of the playable characters is planned as well as a new mechanic, the Kameos, which are reinforcement fighters that appear in the middle of the battle and help us to make some brutal combos, very good gameplay in general and I already want to play it.
On the side of Alan Wake 2 it was one of the most acclaimed titles, I'm surprised and excited that a game that didn't do too well in sales when it first came out got this much love from the public. In their gameplay they presented their new playable character and in fact much of the presentation was playing his part of the story, it seems that again we will go into the nightmares of the writer to solve a murder and here appear some recognizable elements such as the torch and the blurred lines that appear when we shoot the nightmares, another of those titles that I'm dying to play.
Another who made a stellar appearance at this conference was the legendary Akira Toriyama presenting his work with Sand Land which looks to be a very interesting title with imagery heavily influenced by the writer, it looks like we will be walking in a desert in a world where humans and demons coexist in peace, seeing the little clips that happened may be one of the surprises of the year especially with that anime influence that I love.
The conference was loaded with a lot of game presentations but what was really interesting here were the release dates for some of these titles, and what an end to the year we have in store, with September and October being two of the best months we've seen in years. Lies Of P was one of the games that announced its release date for September 19th and also showed off some new screenshots as well as gameplay.
But without a doubt the game everyone was waiting for was Spider-Man 2 which had already shown a couple of gameplays at the Playstation Showcase, there was just one release date missing and this event has given it to us: October 20th is the date for those with a PS5 to play with the arachnid again, one of those games that you know will be great from start to finish and you won't have to wait too long to play it.
Those are some of the highlights of these last conferences, there were other presentations like Final Fantasy that brought a new remake but the truth is I didn't see too much, I think with these games I have enough to follow for the year, this year seems to be one of the best we've had in a long time!
Siempre me parece genial poder checar estos eventos que se hacen una vez al año y que reunen a una cantidad enorme de publico y desarrolladores, 2023 esta siendo un año en donde el videojuego esta en el foco principal y los lanzamientos de estudios Top siempre es seguido por millones de personas, es por eso que en este Summer Game Fest que marca el inicio de la temporada de juegos siempre vemos algunos anuncios interesantes y en este post voy a cubrir algunos de mis juegos favoritos aun por estrenar.
Habia estado esperando con ansias algunas de estas conferencias porque muchos de estos juegos aun no habian presentado algun gameplay, solo trailers cinematico, y que sorpresa la mia cuando me encuentro que juegos como Mortal Kombat 1 y Alan Wake 2 presentaron una sesion jugable bastante solida ademas de darnos un poco mas de contexto en sus historias.
Por el lado de Mortal Kombat 1 pudimos confirmar un par de cosas como el reinicio de la franquicia y de su modo historia ahora por el dios Liu Kang, tambien esta previsto una reimaginacion de la mayoria de los personajes jugables asi como una nueva mecanica, los Kameos, que son combatientes de refuerzo que aparecen en el medio de la batalla y nos ayudan a hacer algunos combos brutales, muy buen gameplay en general y ya quiero jugarlo.
Por el lado de Alan Wake 2 fue uno de los titulos mas aclamados, me sorprende y emociona que a un juego que no le fue demasiado bien en ventas cuando salio por primera vez tenga este cariño del publico. En su gameplay presentaron a su nuevo personaje jugable y de hecho gran parte de la presentacion fue jugando su parte de la historia, parece que nuevamente nos adentraremos en las pesadillas del escritor para resolver un asesinato y aca aparecen algunos elementos ya reconocibles como la linterna y las lineas borrosas que aparecen cuando disparamos a las pesadillas, otro de esos titulos que muero por jugar.
Otro que hizo una aparicion estelar en esta conferencia fue el legendario Akira Toriyama presentando su obra con Sand Land el cual se ve sera un titulo muy interesante con imagenes muy influenciadas por el escritor, parece que nos pasearemos en un desierto en un mundo en donde los humanos y demonios conviven en paz, viendo los pequeños clips que pasaron puede ser una de las sorpresas del año en especial con esa influencia anime que me encanta.
La conferencia estuvo cargada de muchas presentaciones de juegos pero lo que de verdad interesaba aca eran las fechas de lanzamiento de algunos de estos titulos, y vaya fin de año que nos aguarda, teniendo a Septiembre y Octubre como dos de los mejores meses que hemos visto en años. Lies Of P fue uno de los juegos que anuncio su estreno para el 19 de Septiembre y ademas presento algunas imagenes nuevas asi como tambien un gameplay.
Pero sin duda el juego que estaban esperando todos era el Spider-Man 2 que ya habia sacado un par de gameplays en la Playstation Showcase, faltaba solo una fecha de lanzamiento y este evento nos la ha dado: 20 de Octubre es la cita que se daran los que tengan una PS5 para jugar nuevamente con el aracnido, uno de esos juegos que sabes estaran geniales de principio a fin y no habra que esperar demasiado para jugarlo.
Esos son algunos de los highlights de estas ultimas conferencias, habia otras presentaciones como la de Final Fantasy que traia un nuevo remake pero la verdad no le vi demasiado, creo que con estos juegos ya tengo suficiente que seguir por el año, este año parece que sera uno de los mejores que hayamos tenido en mucho tiempo!
