Baldur's Gate 3 - Saving Arabella the Tiefling child ,recruiting Wyll The Blade of Frontiers and heading to The Goblin Camp

Hey folks

This last week I have been playing a lot of Baldur's Gate 3.I am increasingly admiring this game for its depth of storytelling.

Staying true to its Dungeons and Dragons roots this is a game of many choices, decisions and consequences the outcome of which is often based on a D20 dice roll.

In this video we save a Tiefling child named Arabella, recruit a character called The Blade of Frontier's and head to the Goblin camp to slay some goblin leaders.

In my last post about this game we encountered a rather difficult situation where a Tiefling child named Arabella had stolen an Idol from some Druids.

The child stole the idol to try and prevent a ritual that would see every non druid cast out from the safety of the grove where they would be at the mercy of the goblin hordes roaming the wilds surrounding the grove.

The only way to save this child's life is to choose the nature check option and roll a 18 or higher. If you fail the nature check the child will be bitten by a poisonous snake a will die instantly. If she dies you are faced with the task of reporting this to her parents.

I didn't have the heart to face this outcome so I figured I would keep reloading my save until I rolled an 18 or higher on the nature check to see the more positive outcome and not have to continue the game with a heavy heart.

It took around 6 attempts to get a successful roll but finally I managed to save Arabella!Excited by this I headed to report his to her parents and continue on with the emerging storylines.

After returning Arabelle to her parents wetalk to Zevlor the leader of the Tieflings at the Druid grove who suggests that we should talk with a character name The Blade of Frontiers. After talking with him and recruiting him into our party he suggests we attack the nearby Goblin camp to prevent any more raids on the Druid Grove.

After recruiting Wyll and adding him to the party we make our way to the Goblin Camp,a major area in the first act of the game. Along the way to the camp there are many events that can unfold and a few battles that can either be fought or avoided altogether.

Since my whole party is still only level 2 I found it best to avoid these fights and keep heading to the goblin camp. Each time I choose to fight it ended with a party wipe and I had to reload a save and delete the footage I had recorded with fraps. In the end diplomacy and Illithid mind powers proved to be the safest route to the goblin camp.

After a little more wandering through the wilds we finally reach the goblin camp...

There are 4 main goblin bosses to defeat in order to save the captured Arch Druid Halsin, rescuing him and killing the bosses is our main goal here and it's a major part of the act 1 story.

The first boss we take out is Spike The Torturer...It turns out he is the one responsible for Wyll,The Blade of Fontiers missing eye...

After defeating Spike the whole party hits level 3 .I choose the path of Eldritch Knight for my main character, this is a sort of Battlemage build.A Dwarven fighter that can cast spells, nice!

Snapshot_63.png

After the fight with Spike we explore the Goblin camp some more and come across two goblins throwing rocks at captured bear.Im not a huge fan of bears in rpgs so when given the option I chose to throw a rock at the bear.I kind wish I hadn't done this as it turns out this is the Arch Druid Halsin in bear form!

Thankfully I had to reload a save and I didnt go back to this area on the reload. When we finally meet Halsin later on there was no memory of me throwing a rock at him!

Heading onward we decide to see what options are available for dealing with Priestess Gut, the next Goblin leader on our hit list.

Snapshot_67.png

I will continue this story by making a new post for how to deal with the remaining 3 Goblin Camp bosses as there are many options for each encounter. If i cover them all here the video above would be more than 3 hours long and the post would be huge.

Stay tuned for...

Part 2 - Defeating Priestess Gut

Part 3 - Defeating Dror Ragzlin The Hobgoblin Boss

And lastly Part 4 - Defeating Minthara the Drow and rescuing Arch Druid Halsin.

Snapshot_72.png

It has been a wild ride of a Dungeons and Dragons adventure working through this major part of the Baldur's Gate 3 act 1 story.I am highly impressed with the game and would recommend it to all rpg fans.
