Shreddin with the turtles in TMNT Shredders Revenge on Xbox.

Cowabunga my Hive turtle 🐢 friends. The turtles have been my absolute favorite cartoon since i was a kid. From the cartoon show, to the movies, the video games, and of course the toy figures. There was a craze of turtles in the early 1990s where everywhere you looked, there was something to do with the Ninja Turtles. Cups, clothes, toothbrush, camera, pencils, school backpacks...etc. The list goes on. The Arcade at Pizza Hut may have been my first arcade experience ever. Dropping quarters into the slot and getting those few minutes of playtime was the best thing ever. So surreal in those days to have that control, and the challenge of the game. Defeating enemies and trying to get to the end. Only to fail, come back to reality, and to go finish eating pizza before moving on.

SHREDDERS REVENGE

The intro cutscene actually starts with a great remix of the original song from the cartoon. Tweaked just a little but still very much the same. I can listen to it 10 times over and over until i finally start the game up lol.

MENU

Interesting menu select. Im going to continue my story mode and just showcase a few different levels and their design. Theres many levels actually. They seem to be little short, but full of nice detail. Some easter eggs hidden here and there, just nods to the original series.

PLAYER SELECT

There are about 7 playable characters, but 6 that you begin with. The 4 turtles of course, Splinter, and then April. The 7th is unlocked afyer completing the game once, and that would be Casey Jones. They all have slightly different stats. A mix of power, speed, and range. Leonardo having the most balanced stats. Im actually going to be playing with Donatello because hes my favorite turtle. Leo had 2 on all his stats, while Don had 3 for range, but a 1 for speed and 2 for power. All depends on which style you prefer. I think Raph is pretty badass actually with 3 for power, but short range of 1. Anyways...

THE MAP

There are many levels like said, but the map screen is pretty cool. Made to look like New York city, with the statue of liberty there somewhere. As you beat levels the next will unlock and you can cruise to the next location. Each level has a boss at the end. The normal mode isnt too difficult, but the hard is.....well quite difficult.

MOVES

Theres a lot of moves actually. The tutorial pops up and can show you all the moves possible. Usually just by playing you will pick it all up. The standard strikes, grabs/throws, special moves, taunt (to recharge special), and dodge, and jump attacks. The multiplayer feature is cool too, allowing playing online with up to 6 players, although it is just slightly buggy at times.

LEVEL 1

Just right off the bat, the music catches you. They did a really great job on the soundtrack. Lovely guitar, catchy keyboard, very 1990s to fit in well.

Heres just a bit further into the level and doing a special attack but the screenshot is looking little messy with so much going on.

CONCLUSION

Theres so many levels, many good soundtracks, great playability. I highly suggest it. Its a great beat em up game. I wish there was little more to it as ive already beaten it. There are different endings so i may try beating with all characters. Theres also a newer collection called the Cowabunga Collection which is a compilation of older games that just came out.

For now ill focus on what i have, and also end this post here, because i can go on and on....

Have a Tubular day
