V-Rising Detailed First Impression 10 Hours of Gameplay

Greetings everyone!.
Yesterday morning we bought the V-Rising game and started playing it with my friends. Since I had a free day and some of my friends were not feeling well, we played the game all day. Honestly, I was not planning to write an opinion about this game.

But since it was much better than I expected, I decided to write a post. The game released at May 17, 2022. That's less than a year ago. And the price is very reasonable. I definitely think it deserves more money. The first 10+ hours were very enjoyable.
Now let's get into the details.

Being a Nobody at the Beginning of the Game

You have immunity for the first half hour in PvP servers.

At the beginning of the game, you don't have proper equipment. You don't even have any equipment.
As you collect bones and kill creatures, you build new equipment. You learn and discover things as you go and craft this equipment yourself. So the first start is quite enjoyable. You seem to manage the development of your character yourself.

There is no main quest.
The main quest is Build More Things and Learn More Blueprints.

So you can play the game in a very free way. You can go to places far above your level if you want. You can walk around or you can try to fight. Maybe you'll get a nice item, I don't know, but as your equipment improves, your character's level increases. I see this system for the first time and I think it's a great one.

Your Equipment Determines Your Character Level

If you've made a bone sword at level one, and you've also made some body armor, your overall character level is determined by the average of these. But if you have a level two axe, suddenly your character level will change.
So your level looks different depending on the weapons you change. This felt strange to us at first. But over time, after the missions we did, the skills of our characters started to unlock, it felt far more better.

By getting new spells and new skills, your power actually increases. This doesn't show up in writing as level, but when you fight with people who don't have these spells, it shows up very clearly.

In addition, from level 3+, your weapons have extra features. Thanks to these features, you gain skills and you can make different attacks.

Hunting to Unlock New Skills, Science and Spells

There's a mechanic in the game that I like. The research mechanic.
This is what it means. If you have enough paper, you can do research and you can learn some weapons, cosmetics, decorations for the castle.
It's really nice because the game gets better with the things you do.

In addition to that, there are times when you have to hunt. You choose these hunts yourself and you can go and get whatever you want. So after you hunt, when you suck that person's blood and loot their environment, you get a lot of research equipment and skills. In this way, it's fun to constantly learn new things and constantly hunt higher level NPCs.

Your Castle, Your Design

The first thing you need to do to build your castle is to build a "castle heart". You will already do this early in the game. Pay close attention to the following when building the castle heart;

  • Don't place your castle too close to the start of the game or everyone will know where you are.

  • The castle heart should not be in a place where there are constantly spawning NPCs, otherwise you will be uncomfortable when entering and leaving. Especially during the day.

  • Do not place your castle's heart where there are named NPCs. Those are hunting grounds. There will be people coming constantly and they will disturb you.

Remember that people can attack each other's castles in this game. So if you are playing PvP.
That's the difference between PvP and PvE.
Instead of developing your character against the computer, it is really exciting to know that there are others and the opportunity to fight them. That's why we decided to play on the PvP server.

Let's see when we will lose our castle.

Also, as I said, the design is completely up to you. Your castle, which starts as an adventure on the grass, can turn into a huge castle over time. Rooms, corridors... Pictures, tables and carpets... Ornaments... I'm even thinking of playing this game with my fiancé in the future.

Fighting and/or Hunting!

You Have to Hunt and You Are What You Eat

In the game you have to hunt. In the center of the screen and at the bottom you see this red orb like thing. That is your blood orb. When this orb runs out you will slowly start to lose your life. You can also use some of it during the battle, or you can use it outside of the battle to replenish your health. This means this. You have to hunt constantly, on average once a day or sometimes every two days.
Otherwise you run out of blood in your orb, and you start to die.

Fortunately, once you build a castle, you can create zones to summon rats. This ensures that you will always have low quality blood. This is not a good thing because if you have high quality blood, things like attack speed, walking speed or damage are affected. So instead of constantly hunting rats, you want to go after better creatures.

I like that a lot.

Other than that, the battle mechanics are very good. We enjoyed every time there was a fight, even the fights on the PvP server are even more enjoyable. Because when you die, everything falls off except your swords and weapons. In addition, your swords, armor and axes also lose their durability.

Remember to use your spells when you fight. Be sure to try out the new spells you unlock.

You need better equipment to hit better and stronger. To craft better equipment, you need to slay more powerful creatures, and you need to work to craft their raw materials.

So the character development cycle is very enjoyable.

Sun is Your Strongest Enemy

Call me Little Sunshine
Call me, call me Mephistopheles
Call me when you feel all alone
Just call me Little Sunshine
Ghost - Call Me Little Sunshine

When the sun rises, the announcement appears on your screen with the sound of a gong.
The first time I saw this, I was very panicked. My friends kept moving from shadow to shadow, jumping and teleporting, and I got up the courage to move too. You absolutely, positively cannot stay under the sun. Not for a long time, you can't. Just running from one shadow to another shadow, your heart rate goes up because, as you can see in the picture, the sun does a lot of damage to you.

So it's very good that they edited and added that. It's nice to be able to see when the day will rise and plan accordingly, it's nice that the nights are a little bit longer and players don't feel constantly on their toes about it. You feel safe when you find shade, but especially on PvP servers, when someone casts a spell at you from a distance, your heartbeat is non-stop.

Final Thoughts

  • It's a very fun game for the price and it's already worth the money.

  • It is a much more enjoyable game when you play with your friends, it is not possible to enjoy it much alone and the development of your character's scientific development and research is very slow. There is a big difference between two or three people collecting resources and one person collecting resources.

  • Craft system is very well established. It is easy to understand and enjoyable to apply. It was the right decision to see that you will improve over time, but to teach it quickly in the first few levels.

  • It is obvious that PvE will be boring. Therefore, I recommend you to play PvP. Some action increases. In addition, you can also play on your own server. I haven't looked at the prices but this is also possible.

  • You can also play with your friends without paying for a private server open to the community, by making your own computer a server. This is great.

  • The combat mechanics are easy to learn and the spells are fun.

  • The visuals are beautiful and really make you feel like a vampire-lord.

Overall, I liked the game. Do I recommend it? Yes.
I think everyone should play this game for a while. Starting with your friends and building a castle, working together to build resources and production... research... and finally going and killing powerful NPCs and hunting. It's all a nice combination to have a good time.

Thank you very much for reading, I hope you enjoyed it.

All pictures belong to me.
