It's Tuesday again so it's time to dive into Three Tune Tuesday. I was inspired by @bozz this morning by his hair metal picks, and decided to continue on with the fun. Thanks to @ablaze for starting the weekly event, and this is the second week that I am one of the sponsors the event (I kick in one HSBI.) The winner will win 11 HSBI and is picked randomly. I grew up in the 1980's so I always love hearing some great hair metal. So today I picked out three classic bands that embodied heavy metal during the decade of decadence. I thought we might start off today with some Guns N' Roses.
Guns N' Roses
These guys really are a great band that started in Los Angeles along the Sunset strip, the heart of heavy metal in the city of angels. I've discussed them before in other posts. They were the poster child of how a band could go from best friends to hated enemies in not all that many years. Mix in a horde of money, drugs and alcohol and these guys just plain couldn't get along anymore. Here's a live performance of their first big hit "Paradise City".

Judas Priest
Judas Priest are a band from the U.K. that were a big trend setter in the leather and stud movement in hard rock. The lead singer Rob Halford is homosexual, but was still in the closet back in the 80's. It was his influence that led the band to go with their signature look expressing his sexuality. They produced a long list of hits throughout the decade, and they continue to write and produce music to this day. The video in this one isn't great, being transferred from VHS, but the performance is great! Here's "You've Got Another Thing Coming".

Mötley Crüe
Last up I just couldn't leave out the original bad boys of heavy metal, Mötley Crüe. Despite years of alcohol and drug abuse somehow none of them ended up dead. Lead singer Vince Neal was kicked out of the band (or quit depending on whose story you believe) at one point only to re-unite later. Nicki Sixx (bass guitar) overdosed on heroine several times and miraculously lived. Tommy Lee (drummer) married and divorced Pamela Anderson of Baywatch fame. The tabloid papers were always busy with their personal lives and antics, and they didn't mind, it just made them more famous. Here's "Live Wire".

Most of the heavy metal bands went through multiple lineup changes over the years. Often members drifted from one band to another and then back to their first band. Even The Simpsons couldn't help but poke fun at it:
