Some Beautiful Silver from Barbados! / Re-blog lottery!

It feels like a great day for some more Caribbean silver. Even though here it's a nice sunny day here I miss those warm waters to dive into year round. The Pacific ocean off of California isn't nearly as warm as the tropics. So today seemed like a good day for something from Barbados. It's a beautiful island with many beautiful reefs great for snorkeling and scuba diving.

This particular coin I picked up some years ago in a coin shop if I recall, so it wasn't one of my finds in the islands. It features the trident on the coin's reverse, which is fitting since it is also a prominent feature on the Barbados flag. The background lines look like waves in the ocean, really a pretty coin! Have a look:

About the coin:
Country: Barbados
Mint: Scottsdale Mint, Scottsdale, Arizona, US
Denomination: 1 Dollar
Year: 2017
Strike type: Proof
Mintage: 30,000
Composition: 99.9% silver
Weight: 31.103 grams
Diameter: 38.6 mm
Thickness: 3.2 mm
Edge: Reeded
Obverse: Coat of arms dividing the date with lettering: 2017 PRIDE AND INDUSTRY BARBADOS
Reverse: Trident and denomination

The Scottsdale Mint produces some really nice collectable coins for several small nations around the world. This one is no exception. And with 99.9% percent silver it's a great investment and I know many members of the #silvergoldstackers community already have one of these in their silver stack. It's as much a work of art as it is a coin which is what I really love about collecting them!

Now what would a post about a coin from Barbados be without some nice pictures from the island itself. These aren't my pictures as most of mine were taken before digital cameras were any good, using the old negatives and prints method. Wow! How the world has changed!

Now if those pictures don't get you itching for some Caribbean travel I don't know what will! Beautiful beaches and clear warm waters even in the winter. If you haven't had a chance to head down to the Caribbean I highly recommend it and in many places it's surprisingly affordable.

That will just about wrap up my post for this Wednesday. Thanks for stopping by to look it over. If you have any suggestions, comments, or questions please feel free to share them below. Thanks again.

P.S. Since I am posting this in the #freecompliments community I just wanted to take a minute to remind everyone to take some time and be kind to someone today. It can make a world of difference!
