The Queen of Ska for ttt150

Hello Hello to all you wonderful Hivians and music lovers

The Queen of Ska for ttt 150

Tuesday for me on Hive means three tune tuesday...

If you know me then you know I love to take my inspiration from somewhere.

Well this week is no different!

This is the 150th edition of ttt which is truly majestical and so I thought I would do something regal.

In possibly the most distasteful April Fools joke that wasn't a joke, the Scottish Government brought into law the Scottish Hate bill, which you might have seen being mocked on social media. It is quite ironic that the SNP leader who has stirred up so much hatred on both religious and race grounds, brings out a bill that extends the power of the law. The police vowed to investigate all cases, well in the first week there were over 8000 cases.

It is a complete and utter farce.

I call myself a world citizen, I have worked all over the world and don't care what colour a person is or any of the other things the bill covers.

In fact some of my favourite music is 2 tone ska.

So a wee tribute to The Queen of Ska

I am talking about Pauline Black.

It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!

The Queen of Ska

Pauline Black was the frontwoman for the band The Selecter

@ablaze started #ttt 150 weeks ago! Go check out what it is all about on his latest post Sigur Rós for Three Tune Tuesday - Week 149 - 12 HBI shares to be won!

Do go support @ablaze as without him we would not have this mental fun musical activity that you can win HSBI from! I am happy to be one of the TWELVE sponsors and it is kinda fun checking out music from all over this global village of ours!

Long live #ttt 😁🎼 and #threetunetuesday

Today we are going to have fun with some upbeat 2 tone ska!

Alexa is going to play three songs randomly

The Selecter - Murder

The band were among the few racially and sexually mixed 2 tone bands and Black's lyrics, in a similar vein to several other 2 tone bands, covered numerous social ills, including sexism and most prominently racism.

note all quotes are from source.

They came from Coventry which is where 2 tone ska originated.

They were huge back in the day, and I know they kept touring for years with different lineups.

Murder is what I feel like committing on my chromebook, it is frustrating me as it keeps freezing.

Will need to sort that!

The Selecter - The Selecter

Not only are The Selecter one of my favourite bands, the song The Selecter is right up there as one of my favourite tunes of all time!

As for Pauline Black well she was awarded an OBE in the 2022 New Year Honours.

She credits her hometown saying “Coventry is responsible for making me who I am, today, it gave me the opportunity to study, work & ultimately creatively find my voice with the 2-tone movement which has spearheaded the musical conversation about racism and sexism for the past 42 years.”

The Selecter - Three Minute Hero

We finish up this fun edition of ttt with one of their biggest hits and from their first album Too much Pressure.

I had to put on a live version of one of their tunes for you.

I saw them a couple of times over the years, and Pauline was full of energy!

I think it is going to be a ska day!

I hope that you enjoyed these The Selector tunes.

Which was your favourite (if any) ?

Note: The three YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.

I wish that you all have a brilliant rest of your week, and until we meet again enjoy your tunes 🎶🎵🎶
