THE VILLAGE DIARY:
It would be pointless for us to arrive at the port, which is now quite close, if we didn't have enough money to pay for the crossing to the island that is our destination.
Our group is large and our meagre possessions will not be enough; we're not even sure we'll be able to sell them.
Good fortune has given us possession of a treasure map, and our first stop on this quest is the abandoned mine we've begun to explore by torchlight.
Apart from rocks, junk and rats we hadn't found anything so far, but noises drew us into a fairly deep gallery where we discovered something both terrifying and wonderful.
The marvellous thing was a seemingly untouched chest, which could well contain the coveted treasure.
But what's terrifying is that a giant rat is chained close to the chest, rendering it inaccessible.
This giant rat is surrounded by a large number of small rats, who provide protection and food.
We've tried to push them back with torchlight, but it doesn't work with the giant rat, as its chain doesn't allow us to move it far enough away from the chest.
We absolutely must find a solution, so we retreat to a safe distance to think.

LE JOURNAL DU VILLAGE:
Il nous serait inutile d'arriver au port qui est maintenant assez proche, si nous n'avons pas de quoi payer la traversée vers l'ile qui est notre destination.
Notre groupe est nombreux et nos maigres biens ne seront pas suffisants, nous ne sommes même pas sûrs de pouvoir les vendre.
La bonne fortune nous a fait prendre possession d'une carte au trésor et notre première étape dans cette quête est cette mine abandonnée que nous avons commencé à explorer à la lueur de nos torches.
A part des cailloux, des vieilleries et des rats nous n'avions rien trouvé jusqu'à présent, mais des bruits nous ont attirés dans une galerie assez profonde où nous avons découvert quelque chose de terrifiant et merveilleux.
Ce qui est merveilleux, c'est un coffre qui semble intact et qui pourrait bien contenir le trésor tant convoité.
Mais ce qui est terrifiant, c'est un rat géant est enchainé à proximité du coffre et le rend donc inaccessible.
Ce rat géant est entouré d'un grand nombre de petits rats qui lui apportent protection et nourriture.
Nou savons bien essayé de les faire reculer avec le feu de nos torches, mais cela ne fonctionne pas avec le rat géant, sa chaine ne nous permet pas de l'écarter suffisamment du coffre.
Nous devons absolument trouver une solution, nous nous retirons un peu à distance pour réfléchir.
