SPIRITUAL PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT (SPD)//TODAY'S TOPIC: HAVE YOU EXPERIENCED ANY LOSSES AS A RESULT OF FOLLOWING JESUS?// MONDAY 27TH MAY, 2024

INTRODUCTION:

The true worth of an item may not be fully appreciated until it is no longer in our possession. Neglecting to utilize something results in its eventual loss. Just as physical objects retain their usefulness through regular use, the same principle applies in the spiritual realm. Spiritual gifts, when left unused, will inevitably diminish and fade away.

TODAY'S TOPIC:

HAVE YOU EXPERIENCED ANY LOSSES AS A RESULT OF FOLLOWING JESUS?

BIBLE TEXTS:

Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: (Genesis 12:1KJV)

The LORD instructed Abram to leave his homeland, relatives, and father's household to go to a land that He would reveal to him (Genesis 12:1 Paraphrase Bible).

CONTROLLING THOUGHT:

If you have not encountered any setbacks due to your relationship with Jesus, then perhaps your connection with Him is not as deep as you perceive it to be.

THE MESSAGE

It is inevitable that when one deepens their connection with Jesus Christ, they may need to let go of certain behaviors and relationships that were once cherished.

In the passage we read, God directed Abram to leave behind his familial home and homeland to journey to a destination that would be revealed to him.

For Abram, parting ways with his family was a painful and challenging experience.
To truly cultivate a meaningful bond with God, one must be willing to distance themselves from unbelieving companions and break free from old, ungodly patterns.

Embarking on a genuine relationship with God may necessitate bidding farewell to individuals and attachments that could hinder spiritual growth.

It is a journey of faith that requires leaving behind the familiar and stepping into the unknown, trusting in the divine guidance that leads the way.

Trusting in the promise of God, Abram set out on his journey, leaving behind the comfort of his past life. As he walked into the uncertainty of the future, he held onto the belief that God's plan for him was greater than anything he could imagine. With each step away from the familiar, Abram's faith in God deepened, paving the way for a profound connection that would shape his destiny.

Just as Abram had to detach from his past to embrace God's plan for his life, we too must be prepared to let go of anything that obstructs our spiritual journey.

CALL TO SURRENDER*

If you desire to dedicate your life to Jesus, you can do so by reciting the following prayer:

Almighty Lord Jesus, I approach You as a sinner. I humbly request Your forgiveness for my transgressions. I welcome You into my heart as my divine Master and personal deliverer. I express gratitude for redeeming me, in the name of Jesus Christ - Amen.

PRAYER:

Father, please help me let go of any people or things that may hinder the growth of my relationship with You, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
