INTRODUCTION:

Prayer is the ultimate tool, the key that unlocks all doors. Jesus Christ exemplified the power of prayer, beginning and concluding His journey with it. Success is achieved through the practice of prayer.

TODAY'S TOPIC:

DYNAMICS OF FERVENT PRAYER

BIBLE TEXTS:

2 Chronicles 7:1-18

KEY VERSE:

Therefore I tell you whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." (Mark 11:24, NIV)

CONTROLLING THOUGHT:

Christians should have assurance that approaching God in prayer demands respect and righteousness.

THE MESSAGE

Prayer is a direct communication with God. When a person prays, God hears and answers the prayer.

James 5:16 says that "an effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much". As we pray to God, He looks at our intent of heart and answers our prayer. One of the remarkable instances in the Old Testament is the ability of God sending fire from Heaven to consume the burnt offering and sacrifices that King Solomon offered. This means that God had accepted their offerings in the altar, and His glory filled the temple. In fact, fire was kept alive in the temple and the Israelites bowed down their faces and worshipped God.

You need to renew the fire of God in your family altar to attract Him for blessings and protection. On such an important occasion, the priests attended to the services and the Levites played musical instruments to God.

God appeared to King Solomon by night and highlighted some elements that the people of Israel were to possess for an answered prayer:

First of all is humility:

A humble heart is precious in the sight of God before we can receive from Him.

Secondly, seek God's face:

When a person shows.humility, he needs to seek the face of God and pray. God delights on a contrite heart before seeking his face to pray.

Thirdly, depart from evil:

We should also depart from all iniquities and wicked ways that are unpleasant to God. God hates sin, and every prayer of a sinner is an abomination before Him. When all these are put into consideration before praying, God would open the gate of Heaven to answer our prayers.

An effective prayer is the prayer answered. Therefore, imbibe the spirit of humility, holiness and the ability to commune with God. When God answered the prayer of the Israelites, they said His goodness and mercies endure forever.

CALL TO SURRENDER*

Will you like to give your life to Jesus Christ, say the following prayer:

Lord Jesus Christ, I humbly surrender my life You as a sinner. I beseech You to grant me forgiveness for my sins. Please come into my heart from now on. I pray in Your name Jesus Christ - Amen.

GENERAL PRAYER:

God, I pray You give me a humble heart to seek your face in Jesus Christ's name - Amen.
