When we talk about successful people, we like to point out the fact that luck was one of the factors that played a role in their huge and extraordinary success.
While this can be true, it also is a false statement because, to many people, the reason for saying the rich and successful are lucky is because they think that luck is just something that comes to you unexpectedly.
If you don't work, then luck won't work.
Although many people have been able to get lucky without much work, for instance, people who have won the lottery, these people are also quick to lose this money because of one thing that they did not have before getting lucky.
This is where hard work comes in.
In life, you can never push hard work to the side. You actually can if you are maybe born into a rich family, and everything is right by your side, so you don't have to do much before you get what you want.
But this is just a small percentage of the world, leaving many s to our own fate. And if you want to change your fate from being the poor man of yesterday to a prosperous man of today, then you do not have or need to rely on luck.
All you need to do is the hard work and also the smart work. Nowadays, smart work seems to be seen as a shortcut due to how the word sounds, without knowing that before you can even start working smart, you also need to do the hard work first—only that you do it in the direction where it yields great and unimaginable returns.
Freelancing is one way to work smart these days, as it provides a way to work and earn in other currencies. As we all know, many countries, including mine, are facing huge inflation, and the only way people have been able to leverage themselves has been through earning in dollars.
This is an example of smart work, which is just you doing the hard work in the right direction. For someone else working only in naira here in Nigeria, he is surely going to be earning less even if he's working hard.
Life has honestly not only been about luck or hard work but working hard in the right direction is a sure way to make yourself lucky in today's world.
