Motivational Mondays - Build Your Writing Habit on HIVE

I think I have been in #freecompliments community for more than a month and I have never joined any themed days posting before. There should be a start for this and I have decided today is the start, a day with a themed called Motivational Mondays.

I am not sure this topic will be a good one regarding I am a pure gamer not a motivational speaker and overall I am not a good writer too. However I manage to build up a writing habit on Hive and I think it is the most crucial traits you need to get good rewards in long run.

Recently I have talked to many small users and some people who had given up writing on Hive. Small users? yes they are small, low HP but they have been existed in Hive way longer / older than me. For whatever the reasons they came up with, we can sum them all into one words: lack of rewards.

Neither they were being unlucky, or lack of effort, or unskilled... What I want to emphasize in this post is not any of those. It is habit. Most people think that if they make good contents here, they will be paid or will be awarded fairly. So they have made some original contents exclusively on HIVE... and ended up many of them were not rewarded fairly...

Nobody Pays You on HIVE

This is the very basic all Hivians or Hivers should know... nobody pays us for making posts here. So where do our rewards come from? from the sum of Upvotes and Downvotes we get during 7 days period. Who give those posts? it is people on Hive in general, and in specific we can say it is the community and some hashtag that lead people to your post.

So for new people who are not expert in writing, just forget about making great outstanding posts. Don't jump onto conclusion first, I am not saying you guys do not deserve any rewards. Bottom line this is where everything goes wrong...

First, for the sake of high rewards, new people tend to come to the community which Ecency or Peakd show having the highest rewards... or maybe going to the top 5 - top 10 community, looking for which part that "I can do this here".

Second, maybe you have no interest in those community, what you do basically just aim the rewards on that community. How long can you be like that? It's a matter of time before you run out of idea and make a recycle post or copying others idea. or maybe asking AI to make some posts for you.

Third, not all communities are lenient and have high tolerance. For example, a community of photographer, don't go there in hope you will get some lessons, tips and lectures about taking a good photo. Those people are good and experts, they share good photos as their works, not as having a photography class. Same as foodie, when some moms sharing their own recipes, don't go there with some copy paste recipe pretending you are one of them and expect some high value upvotes. You are just looking for troubles by doing those.

Then... So What Should We Do Then?

Be Yourself On Hive

Well, just be yourself. That's what I always say to new or old Hivians that want to be active again in this blogging again. Find a community that you can feel that you are belong here and follow what the community wants. Let Start from there, you do not have to think to much and too complicated about having an epic writings or great contents... As some people could do those, I believe most people who write my posts here are similar like me.... a Jack of all traits who doesn't excel in one of specific contents.

Ok let me give some concrete examples.

1. You Like Taking Pictures, but You are not an expert

My suggestion is to go to SMASH Community @hive-179017 it was managed by @melinda010100 . It is a good community for starters and for people who are not expert in taking professional photo.

There are some topics you can follow there, like Shadow hunters and Reflections hunters. Those are not complex and you can do that without spending hours of efforts. Make it fun, or make it sharp, depends on your personality.

2. You Like Editing Pictures, but You are not an expert

Visit mr @fibra59 and see what he gets for you. He has photobomb event and Meme Challenge regularly, those two are quite simple however you need to show some creativity there.

I often join his meme challenge, becoming one of his #memearmy. It is not about getting great rewards, its just like spreading smiles and laughs. I take that challenge because sometime I think I need to loose a bit... not taking everything over seriously.

3. You Want To Write Something, but You are not an expert

I can recommend many, but lets start from here... the @freecompliments society. We have several good topic we can share here, for example this post... it is a Monday Motivationals. We have friday fitness, Sports Saturday, Sunday Reflection and many more... one topic for each day.

Just follow our topic... be original, you don't have to be great or outstanding... be the original yourself only.

MAKE THESE AS YOUR HABIT

Ok I must cut this off here or I will keep blabering for thousands of words. I have said what we should do to be on hive... And the outline should be like these:

  1. Pick a topic where you are good or comfortable at
  2. Find the appropriate community for your topic or interest
  3. Follow what they have for their community, you don't have to create something amazing out of the box.
  4. Be original, no copy pasting, no stealing other people idea or works

It's simple, but not as easy as you think because you still need to do these:

  1. You only need to post 1 post a day or for two day...
  2. If you have spare time, wonder around... vote other people posts, comment on the things you find it interesting.
  3. and do this all the time

Simple isn't it, but it is not easy because.... once you see someone else making something silly and get rewarded very big, you might start forgetting all of these and do something silly that makes you regret it later.

Being on Hive is simple, just build your writing habits, be yourself on Hive first. Rewards will follow you as the time progresses, don't try to force or push it up excessively... Just be yourself and do these simple stuffs above. Make these as your habit.
