Firing two kinds of Colt .357 pistols

I recently made a new gun purchase, a medium sized pistol I plan to bring with me when I travel deep into the woods. With my plans of buying acreage I wanted a good gun to have while I am out and alone in the woods. I already had a .357 pistol, a Colt Lawman Mk III though it has a long barrel and I thought it was a single action pistol. Its pretty heavy and would not make a good carry pistol. The single action meaning you had to cock the hammer back with every firing of the gun. So I went to my local gun store and picked up another Colt pistol, this time with shorter barrel and a double action. Its the Colt King Cobra .357 2.5" model. It has a nice grip to it and the finish on the pistol really looks great.

The day I bought the gun I brought it out into some privately owned woods where there was a nice back stop and a safe space to have some fun with these guns for a few hours.

First I shot my Lawman mk III just to get a feel for it again, its been a few years since it was last shot. Its heavy weight takes up alot of the recoil and the longer barrel probably makes it a little more accurate.

I put some rounds through some paper and then moved onto my new purchase.

Starting off I go for just a shot every few seconds as I level the barrel after firing each round. And then the last three I went rapid fire to see what the kick was like.. Not bad at all!

Comparing the two, the feeling was pretty minimal. The kick on the smaller 2.5 barrel was not so bad at all. Maybe I am used to shooting bigger guns.

It took a few tries to hit the hard drives, but when I did they would go flying!

Many of the shots just glanced it but one got it dead center.

The whole drive is bulged out from the force of the traveling bullet through the platters. It was a good hard drive in its call, a WD Velociraptor. But eventually it died just as all mechanical hard drives do. But I held onto it for a day like this.

The side view of this drive, the whole case cracked from the bullet entering the center of the drive.

We can see the motor inside with its windings that would spin the platter at a very high speed. Amazing I punched a hole right through it.

Reloading my Colt King Cobra, theres something really enjoyable about loading revolvers.

While I was reviewing the video I noticed the sunlight caught glimmers of the bullet as it passes by its target.

Really smokey, maybe it was the old ammo or just how it was made.

The ammo I had was getting pretty old, so it was nice using up a couple cases of it.

I did a POV angle of firing the Colt Lawman mk III pistol.

After a few hours of firing I had the taste of gun powder in my throat and my hands were getting tired, so I wrapped up and took my pieces of hard drives with me. It was alot of gun shooting my new gun, and at the same time retiring some old broken hard drives.
