Heckler & Koch addiction explained - not really

Originally, I was going to write a long post trying to justify my Heckler & Koch (pistol) addiction. That turned out to be more difficult than I had imagined. While H&K pistols are magnificent pieces of engineering, did I really need to buy 4 of them?

The answer, of course, is Yes!

My initiation into the cult of H&K occurred when I decided to see what all the fanboys were going on about and purchased a VP9 (the one with the tan slide). That pistol somehow managed to fit comfortably in my large hands while at the same time adjusting to my wife's small hands as well.
H&K pistols really do feel like they were custom made to fit your hand. The comfortable grip, along with the smooth and predictable trigger, instantly made me a better shooter as well. While I had been shooting two Glocks (19 and 26) for about 5 years, going through at least 15,000 rounds, I could shoot the VP9 more accurately right from the start.

Great.

Except that I find the VP9 just a little too large for EDC. What to do? Buy a smaller version of course! Enter the VP9 SK (upper right). This has now become my EDC pistol, occasionally replaced by the Glock 26. Same story applies: excellent ergonomics and accuracy.

Life was good. However...

As a fairly new convert to the world of gun ownership, all of my pistols so far were striker-fired and naturally I became curious about that whole other world of hammer-fired pistols. This was all the justification I needed to buy the P30 (lower right). Ergonomically almost identical to the VP9, but with a different trigger experience of course. Enjoy shooting it, but handling it will always be a little out of my comfort zone since I'm so used to striker-fired pistols.

This is where this whole story should have ended.

And it did - for a while. Until one day I walked into one of the local gun stores and I heard the siren call of a VP9 variant I did not own yet: the VP9L (on the left). Basically a VP9 but with a longer slide and competition barrel. Staring into the glass display case at this beauty, I knew I just had to have it. The looks of it were a major attraction: it resembles John Wick's gun from the first movie. That was actually a P30L I believe but this VP9L was close enough to justify yet another VP9 purchase :-)

So there you have it: my H&K pistol addiction, justified. Right?

I do shoot all of them on a regular basis. Fortunately, the magazines are all interchangeable between the guns you see here so that saves me a little money. Important, since list prices for 15-round magazines can be around $50 :-p

The End.

P.S. Of course, now that I have the beginnings of a nice collection I find myself watching reviews of the P2000 and the holy grail: the USP.
