This is previous classified and recently released footage of the explosion of Tsar Bomba in 1961, the most powerful man-made explosion in history. Tsar Bomba was a hydrogen bomb with a yield of 50 megatons. The design allowed a twice as large yield but the Soviet Union decided to limit it to 50 megatons because the fallout would've been too much.
The aircraft that dropped it had to be painted with a special paint to avoid damage to its skin despite being over 40 km away from the blast. The fireball was 8 km in diameter. The explosion caused damage to buildings over 1000 km away.
