I think we have all witnessed or lived to see someone obsessed with another, what we do not know is how far the obsessed person can handle, what he feels or what he is capable of doing in the face of a rejection, of the person object of his obsession, but the film that I am going to present here shows us a little of it.

Creo que todos hemos presenciado o vivido el ver a alguna persona obsesionada con otra, lo que no sabemos es hasta donde puede manejar el obsesionado, lo que siente o lo que es capaz de hacer ante un rechazo, de la persona objeto de su obsesión, pero la película que les voy a presentar aquí nos muestra un poco de ello.

This film centers on a young man who has just entered Oxford University, his name Oliver Quick a young man who is in the midst of a bunch of rich kids in the early 20th century. Thus, Oliver, played by Barry Keoghan, quickly becomes obsessed with Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi) a rich, handsome and popular young man, and after what seems like a fluke they begin a friendship, Oliver tells Felix of his sad family history of abuse and drugs, In the middle of the semester Oliver's father dies suddenly, because of all this Felix feels sorry for his friend, and invites him to spend the summer vacations in Saltburn, his house which is nothing more and nothing less than a castle with butler, servants and a labyrinth in the garden.

Esta película se centra en un joven que acaba de ingresar a la Universidad de Oxford, su nombre Oliver Quick un joven que está en medio de un montón de niños ricos a comienzos del siglo XX. Así, Oliver, interpretado por Barry Keoghan, se obsesiona rápidamente con Félix Catton (Jacob Elordi) un joven rico, apuesto y popular, y tras lo que parece una casualidad comienzan una amistad, Oliver le cuenta a Félix de su triste historia familiar de abusos y drogas, en medio del semestre muere de manera repentina el padre de Oliver, por todo esto Félix se compadece de su amigo, y lo invita a pasar las vacaciones de verano en Saltburn, su casa que es nada más y nada menos que un castillo con mayordomo, sirvientes y un laberinto en el jardín.

This film is basically a psychological thriller where at the beginning we see Oliver conversing, what we do not know is with whom, but he talks about how he loved Felix and from there we can observe how as he goes deeper into the narration of the events, that more than love was a strong obsession to the point of following him, atoning him, lying, manipulating and killing. Oliver is a young man who seems shy and harmless and therefore manages to get into the heart of Felix's family, approaching in strange and creepy ways to his sister and his cousin Farleigh, besides gaining the trust of his parents, but at the least expected moment Felix discovers that his friend is not what he thought.

Esta película es básicamente un thriller psicológico donde al comenzar vemos a Oliver conversar, lo que no sabemos es con quién, pero habla de como amaba a Félix y desde allí podemos observar como mientras se adentra más en la narración de los hechos, que más que amor era una fuerte obsesión al punto de seguirlo, expiarlo, mentir, manipular y matar. Oliver es un joven que parece tímido e inofensivo y por ello logra introducirse en el seno de la familia de Félix, acercándose de maneras extrañas y escalofriantes a su hermana y su primo Farleigh, además de ganarse la confianza de sus padres, pero en el momento menos esperado Félix descubre que su amigo no es lo que él pensaba.

We can see in this film many scenes that will leave us truly impressed, so from my point of view it is not a film suitable for all audiences, because being of psychological type you have to go very well analyzing what is happening to notice part of the actions of this macabre young man, and yet only at the end thanks to his own confessions is that we can realize everything he was capable of doing. Among the actors who are part of the cast we have Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi, already mentioned, plus Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Alison Oliver as Venetia Catton, Archie Madekwe, Carey Mulligan, Paul Rhys, the performances are all great which can lead us to feel sometimes repulsion for an empty and superfluous world, as well as fear to know that obsessed people are capable of anything, we can see it daily in the news.

Podemos ver en esta película muchas escenas subidas que nos dejaran verdaderamente impresionados, por lo que desde mi óptica no es una película apta para todo público, pues al ser de tipo psicológico hay que ir analizando muy bien lo que está ocurriendo para notar parte del actuar de este macabro joven, y aun asi solo al final gracias a sus propias confesiones es que podemos darnos cuenta de todo lo que fue capaz de hacer. Entre los actores que forman parte del reparto tenemos a Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi, ya mencionados, además de Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Alison Oliver como Venetia Catton, Archie Madekwe, Carey Mulligan, Paul Rhys, las actuaciones todos son geniales lo que puede llevarnos a sentir a veces repulsión por un mundo vacío y superfluo, así como miedo al saber que las personas obsesionadas son capaces de todo, lo podemos ver a diario en las noticias.

As for the scenery or location, I did some research and the Drayton House mansion located in Northamptonshire, England, serves as the Catton's home, Saltburn, which becomes in one way or another the place where most of the events of this film take place. In short, Saltburn is an interesting proposal that is not for everyone, but that you will surely like if you have the stomach and open mind to endure it, it is available on Prime Video for those who wish to see it.

En cuanto a la escenografía o locación, investigue un poco y la mansión Drayton House ubicada en Northamptonshire, Inglaterra, hace las veces de la casa de los Catton, Saltburn, que se convierte de una forma u otra en el lugar donde ocurren la mayoría de los acontecimientos de esta película. En resumen, Saltburn es una propuesta interesante que no es para todos, pero que seguramente te gustara si tienes el estómago y la mente abierta para soportarla, está disponible en Prime Video para quienes desean verla.
