Hello, hello, friends of the #Hive community. Once again it is a pleasure to greet you and share with you on this platform that I recently got to know. I hope you are doing well. I know that despite your difficulties, you take some time to interact on Hive.

Today I want to share with you what I have learned from my experience about how short and ephemeral life is. Sometimes I get so used to my routine that I forget this precious truth about life.

Just as the clouds fade quickly in the vast sky, our transit in this world is transitory and ephemeral.

The transitoriness of life

... for what is your life? Surely it is a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes away." James 4:14

I'm sure you don't remember the day you were born. I don't mean the date on the calendar, but the events of that day when you came into being. You know about it by reference. Your parents, aunts, uncles, cousins or some other relative have told you about it. At that time it is very likely that joy was evident in your father and mother. You came into this world. You opened your eyes to a reality. To a world you would begin to know. A world where, as you have seen, man has created his own standards of value, beauty, prestige and more. A world where there is a struggle to reach everything related to these standards. It is assumed that without this we are nothing as long as we live here. Society in general looks with more importance and value on that which in the sense of permanence finally perishes; that is, material and superficial things, which at the time of death or, being close to it, absolutely lose their value.

Let us reflect together on what should be most carefully appreciated. Looking closely at what is happening around us and beyond our borders calls us to consider how fleeting life is in this world. Day after day we see how many do not return home; for an accident, a health problem or a natural disaster has taken their lives away. This everyday life, which one day may come to us, of course, invites us to evaluate what things are a priority for us in our existence. This should convince us that even if we have everything according to the standards of society: beauty, prestige, goods...; without God we are nothing on this earth. For as the great teacher and Lord Jesus said, "What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?

For some reason our Lord emphasized the need to know and follow Him, how futile it is to worry about situations or how terrible it is to focus our lives on laying up treasures for ourselves on this earth and neglecting to lay up treasures in heaven. It is not that we cannot occupy ourselves with obtaining goods and real estate that we need to satisfy our needs, but that we are careful not to attend to what is most important. A follower of Jesus Christ in the early years of our era said the following: "... for what is your life? Surely it is mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes away." A fleeting mist, indicates how brief or temporary our existence on this earth is. In that sense, when we look around and try to find what is truly valuable, we find that a life at peace with God and our neighbor is more valuable than all earthly riches.

We ask ourselves, then: What is life about, if nothing in the world has lasting value? Solomon, a wise king of antiquity, who devoted himself to the search for the meaning of life, after having inquired, said: "Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole of man". If in anything we must also put effort and dedication, it is in this. Especially when we see how convulsed the world is becoming more and more.

I will write soon. I hope I can bring you a new contribution to share in this community. So long, friends of Hive. May God watch over you.
