Un pedazo de roca de cuatrocientos metros de altura en medio del Estrecho entre África y Europa provoca fenómenos extraordinarios gracias al viento y a la humedad. A esto le unimos la luz del sol y podemos sacar unas buenas fotografías.
A four hundred metre high piece of rock in the middle of the Strait between Africa and Europe causes extraordinary phenomena thanks to the wind and humidity. Add to this the sunlight and you can take some great pictures.
Un día normal en Gibraltar puede ser el de la fotografía. Amanece nublado en la zona del estrecho por la humedad traída por el viento a la zona, pero si nos alejamos el cielo se abre quedando limpio de nubes. A medida que pasan las horas esa humedad se va. Es muy normal que llueva por las noches.
A normal day in Gibraltar can be like the one in the photograph. It dawns cloudy in the area of the strait due to the humidity brought by the wind to the area, but if we move away the sky opens up and the clouds clear. As the hours go by, the humidity disappears. It is quite normal for it to rain at night.
Si hay brisa procedente del Este o llamado viento de Levante, choca contra la pared de la roca elevando la humedad a la cima quedando una nube sobre el Peñón.
If there is a breeze coming from the east or the so-called Levante wind, it hits against the rock wall, raising the humidity to the summit and leaving a cloud over the Rock.
Si en vez de brisa lo que tenemos en la zona es viento fuerte o temporal de Levante, la gorra se convierte en una gran nube justo en lo alto de Gibraltar.
If instead of a breeze what we have in the area is a strong wind or Levante gale, the cap becomes a big cloud right on top of Gibraltar.
