Es un plástico flexible, contiene dos tubos plásticos que son manipulables y permiten ser adaptados en las fosas nasales. Lo ideal es indicarle al paciente o en tal caso al familiar responsable acerca de que estos tubos plásticos suelen salirse de las fosas nasales, por lo que deberán llamar al personal médico o de enfermería para su correcta reposición.
It is a flexible plastic, it contains two plastic tubes that are manipulable and can be adapted in the nostrils. Ideally, the patient or, in this case, the responsible family member should be told that these plastic tubes tend to come out of the nostrils, so they should call the medical or nursing staff for their correct replacement.
Suele ser el más utilizado gracias a su fácil manejo, debido que permite hablar, comer, dormir o expectorar sin necesidad de interrumpir el aporte de oxígeno.
It is usually the most used thanks to its easy handling, since it allows to speak, eat, sleep or expectorate without interrupting the oxygen supply.
Es importante saber que por cánula nasal se debe administrar un oxígeno de 1 a 5 litros por minuto, donde si éste es mayor a 4 debe de contener humidificador para no lastimar la mucosa nasal.
