👉 Además les compartiré parte de la selección de Música Infantil Latinoamericana que he ido construyendo en mi camino como docente de Música y Creación Literaria y ahora, en mi experiencia como mamá.
Cada vez se hace más pequeña la frontera entre la música "para niños" y la música en general, y cada vez más pequeño el rango de edad en ese mismo sentido, quedando la música infantil prácticamente reservada a los niños más pequeños, que al crecer un poco desisten de este tipo de melodías y crean sus preferencias en torno a la música que sea común en su contexto.
NO, PARA NADA.
🎶Cualquier persona (por supuesto incluidas las niñas y los niños) puede disfrutar de una obra musical de calidad sin considerar si ésta fue compuesta para niños o para adultos. Muchas veces esta división se debe a que consideramos que el contenido de lo que escuchamos es inadecuado para los niños (se vale revisarnos a nosotros mismos), y otras veces, a que el contenido infantil está orientado a reforzar destrezas o conocimientos que están en proceso de aprendizaje y que corresponde a las etapas de desarrollo que los niños/niñas están viviendo (los colores, números, lateralidad, equilibrio, entre otros), y esto último es completamente útil y valedero.
El pensamiento infantil es sumamente profundo, el niño/niña siente inquietud natural respecto a cosas trascendentes. Aunque sus esquemas mentales son básicos, sus posibilidades imaginativas son enormes y su apertura a lo nuevo es una ventaja cognitiva en comparación con sus pares adultos.
Qué debemos promover
La transgresión de esta barrera entre lo "infantil" y lo "adulto". En mi caso suelo utilizar con mis niños y niñas, canciones que no figuran dentro del repertorio infantil pero que gozan de una belleza y calidad musical y literaria que ellos pueden apreciar/comprender/aprender; y del mismo modo tengo en mi playlist personal hermosa música para niños que disfruto muchísimo por su profundidad y belleza musical y poética.
El compartir de canciones infantiles que traten temas profundos e importantes y que promuevan la integridad a través de un lenguaje accesible y sencillo.
La estimulación de la imaginación a través de canciones que contengan imagénes literarias maravillosas.
Qué debemos evitar
- Contenido musical creado "para niños" que subestime sus capacidades e inteligencia. Este tipo de material es fácilmente reconocible porque los arreglos y el lenguaje son excesivamente básicos o reducidos, abusa de los dimunutivos y a veces raya en lo obvio o incoherente. Los niños/niñas son personas pequeñas, NO PERSONAS TONTAS. ¡EVÍTALO A TODA COSTA!
Sólo pensaba compartir algunas canciones, pero el grupo es una joya y vale la pena que lo exploren. Canticuénticos nos regala una hermosa propuesta llena de diversos ritmos latinoamericanos, de gran riqueza compositiva, intelectual y humana.
🎶 Ofrecer diversidad musical desde los primeros años también es de suma importancia, tanto en la formación musical, como en la formación general. Para sentir los ritmos e historias que pertenencen a nuestra herencia cultural y a nuestras tradiciones (primeramente), y aquellos que pertenecen a otras culturas hermanas. Para vivir un poco más y un poco mejor.
Qué debemos promover
La identificación de los niños y niñas con la música propia de la región a la que pertenecen.
La diversidad de géneros musicales dentro de la música escogida para nuestros niños y niñas. Lo que significa que una canción seleccionada para la escucha del niño/niña bien podría ser una samba, salsa, vals, rap, pasaje... o asociarse a otros criterios más allá del calificativo "infantil".
Qué debemos evitar
- La monotonía en nuestro hábito de escuchar música. Explorar y descubrir también son prácticas imprescindibles para el desarrollo infantil.

Igual que con la recomendación anterior, mejor les dejo todas las listas de reproducción del canal de YouTube de este dúo fantástico, que nos regala un sin fin de letras llenas de poesía, acompañadas de una propuesta visual cónsona con su sonido y color caribeño.
🎶Básicamente, si una obra fue creada para niños y niñas, debe ser cantada en un registro posible para las voces infantiles, estoy de acuerdo, si, y sólo si, nos referimos estrictamente a la ejecución de la misma. Pero aprender a escuchar también es un arte, y desde la infancia se deben experimentar, como con el resto de los sentidos, diversas texturas y colores (musicales en este caso).
Puedo explicarlo de este modo: en una etapa del transcurso de mi formación como pedagoga musical, una profesora que nos instruía sobre los Métodos de Enseñanza de la Música cierta vez se refirió a un conocido grupo musical Venezolano (muy valorado en el país por su contribución a la musica infantil venezolana) como un ejemplo errado de lo que debe ser la música para niños/niñas; argumentando que las voces oscuras (voces masculinas), las tonalidades escogidas y los amplios saltos interválicos presentes en dichas canciones eran todo lo que los pequeños no debían hacer. Para entonces, nunca había pensado en ello, y su opinión no me pareció descabellada. Sin embargo, después de algunos años de análisis y experiencias, hoy sé que es de gran valor la posibilidad de que los niños se sumerjan auditivamente en la polifonía, que experimenten la percepción de timbres y alturas distintas a las que genera su cuerpo y que lo hagan a través de la música popular, que es lo que nos ofrece Serenata Guayanesa.

Es que definitivamente como recoge Francisco Cruces en su libro Las Culturas Musicales, "la música es buena para vivir". 🎶Anyone (of course including children) can enjoy a quality piece of music regardless of whether it was composed for children or for adults. Many times this division is due to the fact that we consider that the content of what we listen to is inadequate for children (it is worth checking ourselves), and other times, that the children's content is oriented to reinforce skills or knowledge that are in the process of learning and that corresponds to the stages of development that the children are living (colors, numbers, laterality, balance, among others), and the latter is completely useful and valid.
Children's thinking is extremely deep, the child feels natural restlessness regarding transcendent things. Although their mental schemes are basic, their imaginative possibilities are enormous and their openness to the new is a cognitive advantage in comparison with their adult peers.
What we should promote
The transgression of this barrier between "childish" and "adult". In my case I usually use with my children, songs that are not part of the children's repertoire but that have a beauty and musical and literary quality that they can appreciate/understand/learn; and in the same way I have in my personal playlist beautiful music for children that I enjoy very much for its depth and musical and poetic beauty.

What to avoid
- Musical content created "for children" that underestimates their abilities and intelligence. This type of material is easily recognizable because the arrangements and language are overly basic or reduced, abuses dimunutives, and sometimes borders on the obvious or incoherent. Boys/girls are little people, NOT DUMB PEOPLE. AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS!

Basically, if a work was created for children, it should be sung in a register possible for children's voices, I agree, if, and only if, we refer strictly to the execution of it. But learning to listen is also an art, and from childhood one should experience, as with the rest of the senses, different textures and colors (musical in this case).
I can explain it this way: at one stage in the course of my training as a music pedagogue, a teacher instructing us on Music Teaching Methods once referred to a well-known Venezuelan musical group (highly valued in the country for its contribution to Venezuelan children's music) as a wrong example of what music for children should be; arguing that the dark voices (male voices), the chosen tonalities and the wide intervallic leaps present in such songs were all that the little ones should not do. By then, I had never thought about it, and his opinion didn't seem far-fetched to me. However, after some years of analysis and experience, I now know that there is great value in allowing children to immerse themselves aurally in polyphony, to experience the perception of timbres and heights other than those generated by their bodies, and to do so through popular music, which is what Serenata Guayanesa offers us.
