OUTDOOR OR INDOOR

What's the first thing that comes to mind?

I think it makes the reader to question his or her personal preference in the matter. It's almost a question that stimulates your self awareness.

But before i dive into it fully, I want to take a few lines and examine these concepts(outdoor, indoor), closely.
We all know what outdoor and indoor means, but here's my definition; They are simply two opposite ideas that describes the space, location and the level of exposure within which activities or actions are carried out. These concepts are actually dualistic in nature, i.e one creates the other.

Indoor is a private space where you are comfortable, and fully able to be your complete self, it's your comfort and safe zone. Having a comfort zone is important, because it contributes to your total wellbeing and your sense of self.

On the other hand, outdoor is a collective space where you announce yourself and engage socially. When I say announce yourself, I don't mean vocally, but in terms of expressions, e.g fashion, your identity, who you portray yourself to be ,the idea of the kind of individual you are, how you're known, e.t.c.

Both indoor and outdoor have their specific functions in our lives and honestly, the two go together, in order to achieve harmony in your life, you need to find balance between them both. I have realized that being indoor too much actually limits your understanding of how the world works. There are certain things that you can only learn when you go out and engage with the world and there are other things it takes being indoor by yourself to realise. I find that there are some activities that are better done indoor rather than outdoor(praying, meditating, quiet contemplation, reading, watching movie/TV-Shows, e.t.c) while other activities are best enjoyed outdoors(picnic, camping, stargazing, taking a walk, e.t.c.) I know some people prefer one to the other, but I think one needs to be both or at least to vary in matter of degree from one to the other.

Although, I think we're more freer { i.e loose} indoor than we are outdoor. As we all know Indoor is a place of privacy, a space for self exposure. We're 100% ourselves when we're indoor. When outdoors we mold or disguise the image of our true self to adjust to the conditions and norms of our society. When outdoor, it's clear that there's a limit to how we can be, but it seems that limit isn't clearly specified.

Although there are some individuals who don't care about social rules, and they go against the tides, and norm, but those people are seen as extremist and social disaster. In my opinion, I think they do kind of over do it too šŸ¤·. To avoid confusion and to make myself clear, here are some of the social rules I'm referring too;
a) Giving up your seat in a train to an elderly.

b) Not talking when your mouth is filled with food.

c) Holding the door for others

d) Wearing of proper and dignifying clothes in public. The images below are examples of what not to wear outdoors. šŸ™…šŸ‘ŽšŸš«

f) Not being a nuisance in a public space or any space for that matter.

e.t.c. Just to mention a few.

Some people fancy staying indoor more of the time because of the safety and protection it offers, compared to the uncertainties and challenges associated with outdoors sometimes. Being outdoor can be quite stressful, so some people just avoid outdoors as much as possible because of the associated stress. Staying indoor is good but, sometimes, it also acts as a place of hiding.

Indoor is a safe space that can hide your inadequacy and insecurities, yes you're in a place where nothing and no one can make you feel uncomfortable, someone very insecure outdoor will be very secure indoor. What does this tell you?, it tells you that spending too much time indoor has a hold on our development and growth as a person. It shows that indoor acts as a space that yes, protects you but also limit you. It's a safe box.

Another thing that comes to mind is personality types.
Extrovert or introvert
As we all know, extrovert and introvert are personality types seen in different individuals, i.e an introverted personality enjoys more of privacy to social engagement, while the extroverted personality enjoys social engagement to just being alone. In truth one isn't better or lacking to the other, it's just a matter of where you prefer to draw your energy from. Yes, these two personality types are just where one prefers to draw his/her energy from.

An Introvert prefers to draw energy from within him or herself, while an extrovert prefers to draw energy from outside sources like social gathering, interactions with different people, e.t.c.

But what I'd like you take note of is, No one individual is 100% introvert or extrovert, it's just a matter of degree. Even extrovert are not all the same, i.e they enjoy things differently to one another.
There are Four types of Extroverts
Extroverted sensors
Extroverted Feelers
Extroverted Intuitive
Extroverted Thinkers.

The same can be said for introverts
All introverts are different to one another, there are basically four types too.
Social introverts
Thinking Introverts
Anxious introverts
Restrained introverts

Extroverted sensors are individuals that are highly stimulated and energised based on the outside or external element. They draw their energy from external stimulus, e.g. hearing, sight seeing, basically they are people that when feeling down or depressed, taking a walk would be good for them.

Extroverted Feelers
This type of personality is associated with empathy. They enjoy throwing themselves into the feelings and emotions felt by others. They are very eager to listen to people and try to understand their situation. They enjoy talking to others.

images (17).jpeg

Extroverted Intuitive
I can boldly say I fall within this category. This personality type enjoy having deep conversations with people, they enjoy thinking abstractly and they are usually interested in the discussion of complex ideas.

images (18)_1.jpeg

Extroverted Thinkers
This personality type are goal oriented individuals, who always acts and decides in accordance to their set goal.

Introverts
Thinking Introverts
Thinking introverts are individuals that are very much self aware, they are quite introspective and self examining. On the outside they can appear cautious. One thing I like about this personality type is that they can maintain their personal opinions without being swayed around. They're able to hold their ground regardless of opposition. They are also very creative people. Thinking introverts spend most of their time alone but hardly are they boring. They can be very interesting and lively if the condition is right for them.
Anxious introverts
Anxious introverts are people that are highly sensitive to their immediate surroundings. They are sensitive to the conditions of the environment, i.e they prefer a calm and quiet environment. When in crowded places, they can become really uncomfortable and nervous. No, this isn't the same as claustrophobic, which is fear of being in a tight or minimally enclosed spaced.
Restrained introverts
This personality type is a cross between introverts and extroverts. It's the balanced recipe for social interactions and personal wellness. People in this category are primarily introverts but they have high adaptability to social environment and gathering.
Now with all these been said, you can now determine which category you are most likely to fall in
