My Plans For Autumn

@ecency-star released a prompt today, asking that we talk a bit about our Autumn bucket list. While it may not seem like it over here, as in Ireland we're experiencing something of a heat wave - the summer is over, and we're transitioning toward the cold and dark days of winter.

I've not really thought of a bucket list of sorts for this Autumn, but I do have a couple of plans in mind that I don't mind sharing in this post.

I'll divide my plans into a few paragraphs just to make it easier to read, and for me, to think and write.

Plans With The Baby
So, this coming month is going to be quite busy. This Thursday we're heading up to Dublin because he has a hospital appointment.

Since he was born one of his pupils dilates much wider than the other when under certain lighting, while it doesn't seem to bother him, we've been consulting with a few different people about it and this next appointment will be good to get to the root cause.

When he was born he had a bad knot in his neck muscle which stopped him from turning his head the whole way on that side. But we brought him to a physiotherapist and she taught us a bunch of exercises to help get rid of it.

After about 4-6 weeks, the knot was gone, because any chance we got we would message it, and run him through the different exercises. Some of which he hated, and some he actually liked, but regardless of how he felt about them, we had to run through them all each day. It was tough to see him upset, but I knew it was the best thing for him which made it a bearable endeavor.

The physiotherapist suggested that perhaps not being able to lay on that side may have affected his eyes based on how his head formed. It flattened on one side, but now it's started to even out much more.

Baby Christening
On the 30th of this month, we have his Christening, and it's going to be amazing! We have a lot of stuff planned for it, and it'll be a great chance for my and my partner's extended family to all hang out in the same place. They had been together during the baby shower, but with no alcohol at the event, everyone was a wee bit shy. Since the afters of the Christening is in a pub, I'm hoping it'll mean everyone mingles.

It's actually worked out well for us, because I've managed to get a deal with the pub where they give us the room and food for free, in exchange for my cover band going out and playing for free for a night or two in the near future. Which really, is a win-win, because it opens us up to a new venue and crowd.

A Trip To The Zoo
Before the bad weather is here, and while we still have bright evenings we really want to get up to the zoo with the babs.

I noticed that he's been staring at the Jabba the Mutt, and my mum's dog Flea when she's around. He has also been really interested in trees, greenery in general, and even birds when they come into the garden. Whereas before, he would only look at people and almost didn't register what animals were.

Now that he's showing some interest I think it would be a great chance to bring him up there to let him have a look around and see and hear all of the animals. He's only 5 months old at the moment, so I'm sure he won't remember it, but I think it'll still be a nice day out and a chance to get plenty of pictures, and maybe even a teddy or book when we're in the giftshop.

Some people don't like zoos, but I think Dublin Zoo is nice. The animals are all well looked after, they have some great enclosures and even share with other animals they're compatible with, which is nice to have a mini natural habitat in a way. Obviously, the animals being wild would be better, but realistically, the way things are going in the world, they're probably safer being locked up.

Band Stuff
Rebellion Festival concluded any activity we've got going on with Dangerous Dave and the Side Effects in the near future, so we're concentrating on getting our albums released and making some new designs for T-shirts, Hoodies, and that sort of thing while we wait to hear what we're offered.

The cover band, however, is getting pretty busy, we have a gig booked for the 16th where we'll be playing a small set in order to show this new venue what we have and so they can decide whether they'd like to get us in for a full gig, we've also got another venue looking for 2 gigs, then the pub where the Christening is taking place, and the regular spot we play is booking some dates that should take us up as far as Christmas, most likely 1 gig a month.

All in all, we have about 4 venues looking to get us in there, and as I've noticed, once you break the ice with a venue and if they like you, they'll have you back once a month. So, that could potentially mean that we may have 4 gigs a month, which would be a nice bit of Mulla coming in on the side.

I've got a few more things going on, but I thought I'd leave it to that stuff just so this post doesn't get stupidly long.

In saying that though, I usually finish a post like this and think, "Damn, I forgot to mention, X, Y, and Z."
