Moana: My Favorite Movie

One of the things that attracts me to a movie is the lessons I derive from it. The movie Moana may be an animated movie but it has so many lessons in it. Moana is a little girl who lives with her family on the shores. The town was known to be beautiful with bountiful harvest each year. Unlike other families in the village, Moana's family were blessed with gifts, this was passed down to generations.

Long before the drought and famine, there was a giant who was gifted with strength. He had a sickle with magic power of transforming him into any creature and this magic sickle was his confidence. He lost faith in himself when he lost the magic sickle in the ocean, so, he went into hiding for a long period of time and The only way to restore Moana's village was with his help.

Even while Moana was still a child, she had the conviction that the Ocean had called her to restore her village. This wasn't easy for her as no one believed her, no one except her grandma. Her father who had once taken the trip to restore the town almost died sailing in the ocean and was afraid Moana would not make it. Moana, despite all effort to hinder her from going, sneaked out, taking the risk, she wanted to see change because she was tired of watching her people suffer.

The journey was never a smooth one, she met the giant who at a point became discouraged too but Moana never backed up. She fought her way until the giant had no choice but to return, encouraged by her boldness and resilience. I got to learn two important things in this movie

  1. To believe in our dream

  2. Never to give up no matter the storm.

It's never going to be easy but if we keep pressing, we'll surely reach our target goal.
