(Enlargeable) ... these beetles are active at dusk and during the night, so I was pretty surprised to see it in the daylight.

(Enlargeable) A few steps further ... in the same kind of habitat, I found this caterpillar. I can't tell you the exact species, but I'm pretty sure that this is the larva of some moth from the Noctuidae family.
