Hello there and welcome to my entry on this week's SHARE YOUR BATTLE challenge. Our challenge this week takes us to the fiery sea where we will face foes with the help of the Antoid Platoon. Will we win or lose? Let's find out...
THE ANTOID PLATOON
We've always been told not to disturb an anthill or a beehive. Well, this warning should be taken way more seriously in the case of the Antoid Platoon. A platoon is made up of several armed and armored large ants each the size of the fist of an average man. They are strong, resilient fighters with exceptional teamwork thanks to their Hive Mind. These little fellas may be scary but will leave you alone if you leave their home be. Unfortunately, an enemy has disturbed their home leaving the platoon no choice but to defend their people.
Let's check out the stats of this monster's card;
The Antoid Platoon can be considered as low mana tank because of its Shield ability right from level 1. It even gets much more interesting at level 6 when it gains the scavenger ability similar to the Ant Miners. This monster does not do so much attack, though, gaining one attack at level 4 and reaching the max of 3 at level 10. The monster's speed is also maxed up to just 2 at level 2. Its toughness reduces to 1 at level 4 at the expense of an extra attack but it gains the toughness back at level 5 and an extra one at level 8. As for health, this monster gains an extra one at level 3 but loses it at level 6 before regaining it at level 7 and getting maxed at level 9.
I got this card from a Chaos Legion Pack so I just have it at level 1. I hope the young warriors will do well in battle.
The Combat Rules and My Strategy
COMBAT RULES | |

NAME | PYRE |
SPLINTER | FIRE |
EDITION | UNTAMED |
RARITY | RARE |
LEVEL | 4 |
MANA COST | 3 |
BUFFS | +1 SPEED |
The explosive ruleset requires very fast monsters that will hit the enemy's lines and take them out before they get the chance. It's possible to kill two birds with one very fast stone. To make this happen, I have to use Pyre for his extra speed buff.

ABILITIES | REFLECTION SHIELD, CAMOUFLAGE |
My good ole Venator Kinjo always comes to the rescue when there is a lot of blast around. This monster will not be able to attack but will be able to block any blast damage in the second position. The only downside of this monster is that it would easily be taken out by Earthquakes if it survives up to the second round. No matter, before then it should have absorbed a lot of blast damage.

LEVEL | 2 |
MANA COST | 7 |
ATTACK | 3X MAGIC ATTACK |
SPEED | 5X |
HEALTH | 8X |
TOUGHNESS | 0 |
ABILITIES | FLYING, BLAST |
I'm done with my frontline defence and now it's time for the offence. I put Elemental Phoenix in the lineup for its Flying ability and particularly in the third position as a backup tank if Antoid Platoon gets taken out. It might be unwise to use this monster since everyone gets the blast ability but its speed and 3x magic attack will be very useful. Plus the flying ability should keep it fresh and unharmed until it gets to the first place. That is, unless the enemy has an opportunity or snipe monster.

NAME | CREEPING OOZE |
SPLINTER | NEUTRAL |

LEVEL | 5 |
MANA COST | 1 |
ATTACK | 1X MELEE ATTACK |
SPEED | 1X |
HEALTH | 2X |
TOUGHNESS | 0 |
ABILITIES | SLOW |
Creeping Ooze is a very useful monster for just 1 mana. This monster's slow ability will reduce the speed of the enemy's monsters giving me a higher chance of attacking first. Those initial attacks are very important because I can take out monsters before they get the chance to attack.

LEVEL | 3 |
MANA COST | 3 |
ATTACK | 2X MELEE ATTACK |
SPEED | 3X |
HEALTH | 3X |
TOUGHNESS | 1 |
ABILITIES | SNEAK |
I'm going to wanna deal with pesky backline monsters so I have decided to use Uraeus for his sneak ability. Not only will this monster be able to do damage to the backlines but his 1 toughness will protect him from the initial earthquakes giving him another chance to do some more damage.
MONSTER 6 | |

NAME | TENYII STRIKER |
SPLINTER | FIRE |
EDITION | CHAOS LEGION |
RARITY | RARE |
LEVEL | 4 |
MANA COST | 5 |
ATTACK | 3X MELEE ATTACK |
SPEED | 3X |
HEALTH | 6X |
TOUGHNESS | 0 |
ABILITIES | SNEAK, DODGE |
Tenyii Striker is one of my favorite Fire monsters. This monster will aid Uraeus by doing additional damage to the backlines. Also, with his dodge ability, he will act as a good defence against any sneak monsters the enemy may have.
Strategy
I need to do damage around the enemy's lines as fast as possible. The more damage, the more likely the enemy's monsters will be taken out by earthquakes. I also need to survive as long as possible during the tremors.
The Battle
My Splinter | Enemy's Splinter |
---|---|
Round 1:
- The summoners start with their buffs. Pyre adds +1 speed to my monsters while the enemy uses Obsidian to add +1 magic attack to their monsters. Magic attacks will be bad for Antoid Platoon.
- Creeping Ooze slows the enemy's monsters down but Brownie counters by giving them back the extra speed. Queen Mycelia also gives all of the enemy's monsters +2 armor.
- Elemental Phoenix starts by shooting fireballs at Unicorn Mustang but his void ability protects him a bit, x2 damage, 8 health remaining.
- The Blast hits Failed Summoner leaving him with 4 health. The angry Failed Summoner reflects some magic back at the Phoenix, x1 damage, 7 health remaining.
- Uraeus and Tenyinn Striker attack Magi of the Forest and take him out before he can do any damage. Their blast takes away the toughness from Queen Mycelia.
- Unicorn Mustang charges at the Antoid Platoon removing all their toughness. The blast hits Venator Kinjo in the second position but the vampire remains unharmed.
- The Antoid Platoon attacks Unicorn Mustang causing him and Failed Summoner to lose 1 toughness each.
- Queen Mycelia and Khmer Princess shoot their magic balls at Antoid Platoon squashing the brave little ants.
Round 2:
- Earthquake hits affecting every monster except the Elemental Phoenix. I lose Venator Kinjo and Creeping Ooze while the enemy's monsters all lose their toughness.
- Elemental Phoenix shoots at Unicorn Mustang hitting Failed Summoner with the blast. Mustang is left with 6 health while Failed Summoner is left with just 2.
- The Failed Summoner reflects some magic back to the phoenix. Unicorn Mustang wastes no time to also attack the Phoenix. x4 damage, 3 health remaining. The blast from the attacks hit Uraeus leaving him with just 1 health.
- Uraeus and Tenyinn Striker take out Queen Mycelia, Khmer Princess and Brownie at the back.
Round 3:
- The earthquake returns killing Uraeus and Failed Summoner. Tenyinn Striker is lefts with 2 health while Unicorn Mustang is left with 4.
- Quicker than the Unicorn, Elemental Phoenix and Tenyinn Striker take down the raging beast. DEFEATED!
Victory!
Obsidian might be a great and confident summoner but she knows when she is beat. She quickly disappears behind the thick vines of the forest vowing to have her vengeance. Well, Pyre and his summoners will be waiting.

Did My Strategy Work?
Yes but not really as I expected. Placing Antoid Platoon in the first position was not so wise because he was basically taken out by magic. It's a good thing that Venator Kinjo was there to block out all the initial blast damages.
What really helped me were the fast sneak attackers I had. They took out Magi of the Forest before he could do any damage. If Magi of the forest has attacker, Antoid Platoon would have died quicker forcing Elemental Phoenix to the second position where he would have been hit by some blast damage.
The sneak attackers were also useful in taking out Queen Mycelia and Khmer Princess before they could attack the Phoenix in the second round. This was what allowed the Phoenix to survive until the final round.
Do I like Antoid Platoon?
Yes I do. This card is more of a niche card. It is a low mana tank that can be really useful in rulesets like reverse speed and Up Close and Personal especially with a demoralize monster on the team. The monster can also guard against sneak melee or range monsters.
For this battle, I did not use Antoid Platoon the right way. The enemy surprised me by using magic attacks but thankfully it all worked out in the end.
