High Volume, Low Return

There is still about half a day left, but it is time I stopped bullying playing this season. As I mentioned a couple days ago, I scraped into Champion 1 in the Modern format, and then decided to burn some energy messing around on the Wild side. I have a bit of a problem though, in that I like to compete at higher levels, so I ended up buying some more energy, to see if I could squeeze myself further up.

This is where I ended:

After a blistering start from gold into Champion in a single streak of 36 wins, I lost my first round to a Zaku, but it was close. I didn't see many A, B, U and D cards in my early runs, which goes to show how strong the newer cards are, but they don't cover every ruleset adequately. However, after that initial streak, The next fifty games were far harder, as I kept getting a win away from Champion 2, then bounced back. Those last 50 games were at a 62% win rate, leaving me with my highest ever season win rate of 78% in total, on the Wild side.

I used to be closer to 60, now I am just above 50% in Modern.

As evidenced by the amount of games played. 800+ games to get into Champion 1, which is bloody-well ridiculous. I won't do the math on the cost of the vouchers, but I can't keep burning them like that, so I have to increase my efficiency, or be satisfied with finishing in lower levels.

Though, what I am hoping is that one day I will be able to offset at least some of the costs through the currently soulbound reward cards I have collected in the chests. Today, I had Smallsteps open the chests I received (she loves doing it and I am teaching her how to use the mouse - she is very analogue), and she has better pull luck than me - getting 3 GFL Ava the Undaunted prints. I already have a Max GFL in that, so it is silly to not be able to do something with the rest.

As you can see from my Soulbound reward cards, I am 15 of the right GFLs short of maxing the set, and I have 9 of which I have an oversupply. I wouldn't mind being able to swap a couple out and get a max Iziar and Musa, or even an Aves. And I am sure that there are other people who wouldn't mind the trade either.

Will they be unbound after the next release? (Summer?)

At some point they have to be tradeable, otherwise they become valueless to gain, other than their ability to be burnt for "Glint" in order to get more soulbound cards - but if missing out of print ones, how to max? I am sure there are a lot of people who are at max or close to, if I am nearing it. In almost all of my Reward commons, I have enough for two max. Most of my Rares are the same, and my epics are at about one and a half. The only Legendaries I don't have a max version of in any color are - Musa Saline, Terraceous Hulk, and Iziar.

About 4 million of each Common, one million of each Rare, 180K of each Epic, and 40K of each Legendary has been printed in regular. And, that is 100K, 35K, 11K and 3K in golds. What is value of the reward cards, once the market is flooded with them? No idea - but at least for the useful cards, there should be a market for them, as a lot of them are key cards in the current meta, for both Modern and Wild.

This season has been a bit different for me, since I switched in the last few days to Wild, rather than trying to play up further into Modern, and then slipping out of C1 like I did last year, unable to get back. The coming season will be a bit different too, as I am going to try and be a little more efficient with my rounds. To do this, I have to "pick my battles" as I only get a couple of decent days a season, and the rest is either losing streaks, or static. I am not sure how I am meant to know what days are which though. It seems some people have "always on" days.

Is it magic?
