A grand defense in the life deck, meet Uriel the Purifier

Legendary cards in Splinterlands are usually extremely powerful and for this post I will talk about one from the health deck that is an excellent tank for the front line and also a great option to deal damage in battles. The card I'm talking about is Uriel the Purifier, this card belongs to the chaos legion edition and it hasn't been too long since it hit the Splinterlands battlegrounds.

Who is Uriel the Purifier?

Uriel the Purifier is a legendary card from the chaos legion edition that belongs to the life deck, it is an airdrop card from the edition and has 2 functions in battles. The first role is to defend as it is an excellent card for your front line as it has a large amount of health and shield and also the ability Flying which will help it to dodge attacks. The second function is to have a devastating attack that stacks for 1 round and is launched the next round dealing 3x the damage of your attack.

How to get Uriel the Purifier?

To get him in your battles you have 3 options which are: buy, rent or try your luck by opening packs.

To buy or rent you can go to the Splinterlands Marketplace filter by Edition: Chaos Legion / Rarity: Legendary / Element: Life / Role: Monster.

The current price to buy Uriel the Purifier is $5.92/BCX and to rent it is 0.46 Dec Level 1. To rent the price is very variable so it depends a lot on the moment you rent it and also on the level.

The third option is to buy chaos legion packs and try your luck to get Uriel the Purifier. The odds are low because it's a legendary card but you never know when you'll be lucky to get this card.

How does Uriel the Purifier work in battles?

The image above shows an overview of Uriel the Purifier's stats and abilities at all levels, he is a card with a high mana cost (11), his attack type is melee and he has 4 abilities which are: Flying, Recharge, Heal and Redemption.

Looking at the image you can already see that he will be a great card to defend your front line, but his attack is not that high for a card with 11 mana, so why did I say his attack is devastating? to understand this I will explain all his abilities so you can better understand how the card works.

The Flying ability increases the chances of Uriel the Purifier to dodge melee and ranged attacks from cards that do not have the ability Flying by +25%. For a front line card it is a great ability because in addition to having a large amount of health and shield it will also not be an easy target for your opponent's cards to hit.

The Recharge ability is why its attack is devastating because it makes Uriel the Purifier charge its attack for 1 round and the next round to attack for 3x the damage of its attack. If you use the card with 3 attack then it will do 9 damage and if it is with 4 attack then it will be 12 damage, this is a devastating amount and also enough to defeat most cards that exist in Splinterlands.

The Heal ability is another ability that will help Uriel the Purifier to defend because with this ability it will restore 1/3 of its maximum health every round, as it has a large amount of health so the ability will be even more useful because will restore a good amount of it per round.

The Redemption ability is like a final "attack" after Uriel the Purifier is defeated because after that it will deal 1 damage to all your opponent's cards, it's not a huge amount of damage but it can make a big difference in the battle.

Its abilities and stats are excellent and because of that it deserves to be a legendary card with such a mana cost. the tall one, it is not very common for you to find him in battles in low leagues like bronze and silver, but in any league he will be very useful and you will hate to face him and love having him in your battles.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Advantages

The first advantage of having Uriel the Purifier is that it has excellent defense, especially against melee and ranged attacks as it has the ability Flying and a large amount of shield. Its second advantage is that it has the ability Heal which is very useful in battles and increases Uriel the Purifier's chances of surviving longer during battle. The third and final advantage is its powerful attack which is capable of defeating a card with just 1 attack. There are other advantages too but it will depend on the battle rules.

Disadvantages

The first downside to owning Uriel the Purifier is because he needs 1 round to recharge, so he won't be able to attack this round and a lot can happen during that time, even Uriel the Purifier being defeated. The second and final disadvantage is its mana cost which is high so it won't be easy to use it when available mana is low and also means it will be a target of the Giant Killer ability that deals double damage against cards with 10+ mana . There are also other disadvantages but it depends on the battle rules your battle has.

LORE

Uriel was amongst the many Pelacor that fled Solaki and its military regime when he was young. He found himself in Khymeria, like so many of his brothers and sisters, but even though they practised with life magic it just didn’t feel quite pure enough for him and so he travelled to different Worlds, seeking somewhere he could find that elusive clarity of virtue.

On the bright World of Régalien he won his armour in brutal combat, gold and silver plates forged together with the strongest metals known and lacquered in the translucent blood of a diamond giant. An armour that could not only heal him, but would smite his foes should he ever fall in battle. Still, it was not enough.

Then on the fiery World of Temisrok he fought and slayed the terrible drake, Cizilth, winning favour with the bladesmiths who wrought his sword with fiery runes, instilling an everlasting flame into the weapon. And still, the clean virtue wasn’t sufficient, so the hunt continued.

But always he returned to Khymeria and the Splinterlands, searching for that ever-elusive purity that continued to remain just beyond his reach. Eventually this quest became such an obsession that it ultimately ruled his existence, a life’s purpose transformed into something that would forever remain unattainable. And some say that was his downfall.

The Khymerian leaders banished him from their land, believing that his over-zealous and fanatical behavior was becoming a danger to their people. This sent Uriel into a wild rage and he left them with a promise, that when he finally found what he sought, the magic of life would eventually know the true purity of what was missing from its white light, and when that day came they would also feel the sharp edge of his sword.
