Exploring the Chaos: Fury

Fury.png

Introduction

Hi! @saydie here playing Splinterlands everyday.

This is Exploring the Chaos where I take a look on Chaos Legion and now also the Riftwatchers cards, as they brought new abilities that changes how we play the game.

The last Chaos Legion ability that I tackle would be Reflection Shield. An ability that makes it immune against indirect and reflected damage and now, I am going to talk about the Fury ability which deals double damage when attacking a monster with Taunt which is an ability that directs all abled attack towards this card. This ability is currently available on Riftwatchers only which is the mini- set of Chaos Legion.

Description

Fury
This Monster does double damage to targets with the Taunt ability.

Prons

  • Deals 2X the damage on opponents with the Taunt ability.

Cons

  • The ability only works on monsters with Taunt so it will lost its use as an ability when that monster is defeated much like Giant Killer.

  • Ability was not available on all elements.

The Fury ability works similar to Giant Killer for they can deal double damage when a certain conditions are met. For Giant Killer, its when attacking monsters with 10 or more mana cost and for Fury, when attacking a monster with Taunt. While they allowed more powerful attacks, it will only works until the target with the conditions met is still on the play.

Lore

Before he joined the Riftwatchers, Lakit Pekmip was the headmaster of a wizarding academy on his home world. He was revered for not only his power as a mage, but for his patience and kindness as well. He was often sought for his wisdom and counsel. It was said that there was no problem he could not solve and no subject in which he was not an expert. Yet he remained humble and devoted his life to serving others.

He had a wife and five children: three girls and two boys, all of whom showed a natural aptitude for magic. His family, his students, and his community meant everything to him. They were his entire world.

Then the Chaos Legion came.

The Riftwatchers found Lakit in the ruins of the academy. The Legion’s attack had come without warning, so suddenly that Lakit had no time to do anything but raise a protective shield around himself. No time to save his students. No time to save his family. No time to save anyone but himself. Continue Reading...

Lore

As a siren, Azura Kye loves spending her days in the sky and her nights deep beneath the waves. She is a third-generation Riftwatcher who grew up listening to her grandparent’s stories of the Chaos Legion’s invasion of their homeworld, Lemell.

Azura learned to fight at a young age and grew to become a renowned sorceress. She also has an incredible aptitude for runemancy and has developed a variety of mana-infused weapons and gadgets for her allies to employ in their fight against the Chaos Legion. On the battlefield, she has proven herself repeatedly, facing off against the Legion’s scouts on various realms and harassing their forces with clandestine, insurgent tactics. Once, she even single-handedly brought down a kraken.

Subsequently, she rose quickly through the ranks of the Riftwatchers. Time passed, and so too did the old guard. Azura was an obvious choice to replace them. Honored to follow in the footsteps of her predecessors, she now wears the mantle of Runemancer. She is a natural leader and a champion of the people, dedicating her life to stopping the Chaos Legion threat. Continue Reading...

Lore

When the beautiful world of Dumacke was devastated by the Chaos Legion, only a handful of exiles survived. The Riftwatchers took them in, outfitting and training them with rune-enhanced weaponry.

Dumacke exiles are hardy warriors acclimated to the cold tundras and steep mountain ranges of their homeworld. They carry a shield imbued with runic magic designed to dampen sound, and their weapons are infused with a deadly toxin. The end product is a deadly assassin reinforced with plate armor, capable of infiltrating the enemy’s defenses and striking without warning. Continue Reading...

Lore

he charge of rune crafters is to invent more and more ingenious ways to use runes to empower weapons and other devices. However, because there is no mana to spare on the ruined realms left in the wake of the Chaos Legion, not only do these inventions need to be ground-breaking, but the rune crafters must also design them with optimal efficiency in mind. Conservation is a must.

If they are to face off against the great might of the Chaos Legion, the Riftwatchers need every advantage they can get, and rune crafters are masters of innovation. Continue Reading...

The Battle here was played with a heavy magic team for my team with the use of the summoner Alric Stormbringer that give +1 magic damage on all ally monsters that allows Runemancer Kye with a total of 4 magic damage and because the opponent uses the Taunt monster Kraken, I was able to land a total of 8 damage to the opponent which also ends Kraken on the 1st round.

For this battle, all monsters cannot use heal but range monsters can attack at the 1st position but while that is the case I have doubts on using a range team so instead, I'll go with a melee team with the summoner Tyrus Paladium that gives +1 armor on all ally monsters. On the other hand, the opponent uses a range team since it has the summoner Yodin Zaku but it also the Taunt monster Magnor which allows the Dumacke Exile that I placed in the back to deal 6 damage on it.

For this battle, melee monsters can attack the opponent's back- line so I choose a team that can attack with melee monsters but also has some protection against magic enemies which is the one that I face here. The opponent uses the Taunt monster Mycelic Slipspawn by which Rune Crafter ended up dealing 4 damage and also finishes it.

Final Thoughts

Taunt monsters has been used in order most of the time because the opponent wants to protect the rest of his team but with the new ability Fury, there is suddenly this opportunity to deal more damage on the opponent. Though, the ability will lost it's use when the opponent monster dies, it prevents the opponent to do whatever strategy that it has that centers with the use of Taunt monsters. The downside for this is that there are not as many of this Fury cards as the Taunt cards which also and are also not available on all elements which makes it hard if the rule set only has elements where the ability is absent and the opponent uses Taunt.
