How it worked before?
Before, players could rent cards for a minimum of 2 days. Also you can rent card for longer if you want, but the owner or user can cancel at any time, which means players always have to check that all the cards are there to be used before playing.
New System
Now they can choose between a season rental or a daily rental duration. Season rentals are great for players who want to build a specific deck for a season, as they will be rented for the remaining days of that season. Daily rentals will continue to work as before. However, there are some restrictions to season rentals. If a season rental is cancelled by the owner, it will still rent through the end of the season and then go off the market. Renters cannot cancel a season rental early to get a refund or relist it.
This new system adds flexibility and control for players who want to quickly rise at the beginning of a new season or stabilize the market at the end of it. It also allows for more experimentation with different decks without the worry of constantly checking if rented cards are still available.
But, there is one downside to these changes. For Splex or other autorental users, they will not be able to keep rented cards on auto-rent. Once rented, they'll need to wait a long time to re-list, which may take some time. Big punch to renters (I'm one of those :/)
This will make the auto renters create better algorithms to keep up with this change.
