Prismologist is one of the most explosive monsters that costs 8 mana but deals with 3 ranged attacks and comes with 2 armour shields as well. Her blast ability will also damage the target's adjacent cards. Her only drawback is her relatively low health of only 4 hp. If she had better, it would be a great card to use in battles.

I have used it as an offensive unit only as her ranged attacks won't work at first positions and she will quickly lose her charm if I place her close to the start of the lineup. Let's see how I used her in my lineup.

My Lineup

This is my lineup for the battle

PositionSummoner/MonstersAbilities
SummonerGeneral Sloan+1 ranged
Position 1ShieldBearerTaunt
Position 2Gargoya DevilFlying, Close Range
Position 3Supply RunnerNo ability
Position 4Portal SpinnerScattershot
Position 5PrismologistBlast
Position 6MartoidSnipe

It was an unlimited mana battle So, so I could choose whatever I feel like at this point. I chose General Shloan as my summoner, it gave all my friendly monsters +1 range attacks which helped immensely in this battle as I was using a heavy ranged-centric battle.

In the first position, I placed the Shield Bearer as my tank, it has some of the best stats in splinterlands when it comes to defending. Its Taunt ability attracts all attacks and doesn't let anyone else take the shot until he is dead.

So, I used the Gorgayo Devil in my second position, it has a flying ability that allows it to dodge a few attacks. It also has a close-range ability i.e., it can even attack from the first position. But like most ranged attackers it also has relatively lower health.

In the third position, I placed the Supply Runner. Yet another ranged monster doing 2 ranged attacks but having 4 hp to spare. He has a good speed as well and is a useful unit for many compositions.

Next came the Portal Spinner, another ranged attacker with lower health (3 hp) but having 1 shield of its own and a unique ability called scattershot that randomly attacks any monster from the enemy team. Not sure how useful this ability is but it works well in my favour most of the time.

In the fifth position, came our star performer, the Prismologist, she deals a whooping 3 ranged attacks on her own, has 2 shields as armour and got 4 health points as well, all this at the cost of 8 mana. This mana cost sometimes makes it a bad option in certain scenarios. But sometimes that is not a problem, just like in this case where I have 99 mana to play with.

Last but not least came the Martoid, this creature has better health and deals with 2 ranged attacks and comes with snipe attack ability. Let's now discuss what strategy I had in mind while making this lineup for my battle.

My Strategy

Being an unlimited mana battle, my focus was on using mostly ranged attacks and supplementing this with a great tank in the form of Shield Bearer. I focused more on the offensive aspect of things. But ranged monsters have relatively low health in comparison.

I will share my battle here, which I have uploaded to YouTube.

ROUND 1

Round 1 was an intense fight between both teams. My Shieldbearer survived the initial onslaught while other monsters constantly bombarded the enemy team from behind.

My opponent had Nector Queen as their tank, they played well in this first round. Leaving both of us in a similar situation. Their Goblin Psychic got eliminated early before he could heal the tank.

ROUND 2

Round 2 was a big round for this game. Only during the start of this round, I quickly realized that most of the opponent's teammates were just catching up but seemed to be a few steps behind.

ROUND 3& 4

Rounds 3 and 4 hit the nail on the head and all my ranged monsters obliterated the opponent during these two battles. Only the Pelacor Deceiver was standing till the end but that was just a failed hope and I got an easy win at the end with still 3 monsters remaining in my lineup. of course, they were much weaker now.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

Yes, my strategy of using a heavy ranged attack proved to be a game changer. Since I had a lot of mana, I could easily use the best tank for my units. I have to completely change my strategy if I have to fight with lower mana cap battles.

Do you like the Prismologist? Why or why not?

Yes, and no both. I like Prismologist for her powerful striking abilities and her blast ability will attack the adjacent monster from her target. Super useful when you have to weaken the enemy forces faster and more efficiently.
