1-Click Set Rentals in Splinterlands

Hello and welcome to my blog!

Splinterlands has a lot of NFT cards which are used to play the game. There are hundreds of Cards and it is very unlikely that you have all of them. So what many players do is rent out cards from the market. There are multiple locations where you can rent Splinterlands cards, you can do it within the splinterlands website or choose to do it via some third-party services like Peakmonsters.

You can rent a lot of cards but not all cards can be playable in every format. If you play in a Modern format, you have to keep in mind to rent only the last two editions of cards. It gets overwhelming quickly, especially if you are new to the game. One of the solutions is to make the rental process quick and easy and Splinterlands have come up with 1-Click Rentals.

I took a break from the game and saw this new feature. Good to see more stuff constantly being added to the game. Here is what the Rental Page looks like.

You can open this webpage by navigating to Markets > Set Rentals. Or Items > Card Set.

There are three options, Create (for creating your set to rent to other players), Rent (for renting sets created by other players) and Manage (to view and edit the rented and/or created set).

This is a quick and easy way to rent out cards for the entire season. For now only Chaos Legion Starter Set is available but I believe this will see some more sets soon.

You can create your own Sets and list them up as well. You will find all the info on creating your set in this FAQ page.

There are some listings on the page already. You can see the whole collection by clicking on the 'view cards' before renting the set. As you can see, you can pay with both DEC and Credits.

While this has some advantages, especially for the new players. It lacks options right now. I think there will be more customizations and options available in this later. More editions would be really good. Also, the ability to control your rental duration would be really helpful here.

Good to see that the set creation is simple and intuitive. There is an autofill option and you can change your parameters to whatever you like. There is a minimum level of card that you can't go below but there seems to be no upper limit for these cards.

It sure is the right step towards improving new players' experience and it is really important in any game to be beginner-friendly. If it gets too confusing and complex right at the start, players will most likely not bother learning about the game.

So, if you are a new player, this would be helpful for you. Renting out the set and trying out all the cards at the start is a good way to learn the game and it really helps you know about the various synergies and good cards that are gonna help you. New players will automatically start becoming more familiar with the game and maybe in a season or two they will see which cards are good and what suits their playstyle. After that, they can choose to rent specific cards that they liked the most from the set. This is a good way to get yourself familiar with a specific set.

But for a more advanced player, this might not be a very exciting feature. They will either own most of those cards already or just rent the specific cards that are missing from their decks. Well, this is a positive step towards improving the user experience of new players. I just wish there would be more options and custom rental duration features available soon. That will be a game-changer. It would be interesting to see how much traction this will get from the community.
