Whoever Attacks First Has a Greater Chance of Winning This Battle

Hello everyone how are you? The new season is usually hard to play, find many rating gaps win only got 10 ratings but the loss can drop to 25-35 it's hard for me. Today is the time to make a blog again for the Splinterlands contest Battle Mage Secrets Challenge this is about the battle in Unprotected ruleset.

This is my EOS Chess result, not too good but not bad either at least got some decent cards.

Ruleset

  • Unprotected, all monster armor is disabled, and all buff which gives armor from summoner or monsters not working in this ruleset.
  • all monsters have Counterspell ability.
    • Magic Reflect
      When hit with magic damage, does reduce Magic damage back to the attacker. Deals damage equivalent to the attacker's damage divided by 2, rounded up
  • Can You Not Entertained?. Monsters from Gladius's pack can be used in this battle. Gladius pack We buy from the guild shop with Merit points. Merit points we can get from chests or battle in Brawl (guild vs guild).
  • Mana cap.
  • can use element Fire, Water, Earth, and Life.

My Lineup and strategy

  • For the Unprotected ruleset we need fast speed and good damage, attack first and kill the enemy before they can attack is my plan. Magic monsters should not be used because of the Counterspell ruleset, excess magic can reduce an enemy monster's HP regardless of its armor, but in this battle, this advantage is lost because all the monsters have no armor. Most magic monsters have slow speed, while monsters with melee or ranged attacks have faster speed with less mana and more or less the same damage as magic monsters. Without armor, all monsters hit by melee and range attacks will immediately have their HP reduced.
  • For the Can You Not Entertained? ruleset we decided to use a monster from the Gladius pack, the advantage of the monster from the Gladius pack is the ability Bloodlust (every time you kill an enemy will increase all its stats) the more this monster kills enemies, the stronger it will be.

We decided to attack the enemy monster from behind (Sneak and Opportunity ability), because many melee monsters who can attack from behind have good speed and good damage, and we will boost the speed. This is our lineup :

Baakjira, 1st position, Tanker. Has the ability Void, Slow, Strengthen, and Heal.This monster is capable of defending against melee, ranged, and magical attacks. Especially magic attack because it has Void ability (reducing magic damage by 50%). Strengthen ability (increasing the HP of all allied monsters by +1), and Slow (reducing enemy speed by 1) this will increase the chance for our monster to attack first and kill the enemy monster, With this monster's high HP and Heal ability (restore some HP each round) makes it become a good tanker.
Venator Kinjo 2nd position, Support. Has the abilities Reflection Shield, Camouflage, Immunity, Slow, and AmplifyWe use this monster because of Slow abilities it has, this ability will decrease all enemy speed by -1. The other ability Reflection Shield will disable the effect of the blast in case the enemy bring a monster with Blast damage (all monster adjacent to the monster who got attacked will get some damage) Venator Kinjo will not hurt. Immunity ability make this monster immune to all negative status like Poison, Stun, Poison, Blind, etc. Camouflage ability makes this monster can only be attacked if in the first position. Amplify ability will increase the damage from Counterspell by +1. We are put in this position so can become a tanker, in case the Baakjira die, at least can receive 1 attack to protect the other monster behind.
River Nymph, 3th position, attacker and support. Has the ability Cleanse, Amplify, and Swiftness.I said not used the magic monster before but for some rulesets like Unprotected, we can break the rule and take a risk to increase the chance of winning. We use this monster because it has Swiftness ability which can increase the speed of all our allied monsters. The support ability Cleanse is good for removing negative effects from our monster in the first position like Poison or Affliction status. The Affliction status can make our monster can't heal anymore. Have the same Amplify ability as Venator Kinjo. We put this monster in this position to make it safe from enemy attack we need that Switfness ability.
Isgald Vorst, 4th position, attacker. Has the ability Bloodlust and Opportunity.Every time this monster kills the enemy all of the stats will increase by +1. With the Opportunity ability, this monster will attack enemy monsters with the smallest HP, and with no monster having armor we expect that this monster can kill many enemies. Put it here to protect this monster from the attacker behind. (Sneak ability).
Deeplurker 5th position, attacker. Has the ability Opportunity, Poison, and Demoralize.This monster has great damage of 5 and a speed of 4. With Isgald Vorst will work together to attack the lowest enemy monster HP. This monster has the ability to inflict Poison, causing the affected enemy's HP to decrease by 2 each round. The Demoralize ability will reduce all melee attacks from the enemy by 1. Placing this monster in 5th position to protect our Isgald Vorst from Sneak attack.
Pelacor Bandit, 6th position, attacker. Has the ability Sneak, and Flying.This monster has fast speed and great damage, and with Flying ability will increase the chance to evade the enemy melee and range attack by 25%. This is our first tanker to defend against the monster with Sneak ability (attacks the monster in the last position). We slow the enemy by -2 (from Baakjira and Venator Kinjo) and increase the speed from River Nymph Swiftness ability hope this monster can evade a lot of attacks.

The Battle

  • Round 1 :
    The battle starts with Buff and Debuff. You can see all our attacker monster has a higher speed than the enemy, I think we will win this battle.
    Because we had higher speed our monster Pelacor Bandit and Deeplurker attacked first and killed 2 enemy attackers Iza the Fanged and Katrelba Gobson. The enemy Uraeus attacked our Pelacor Bandit but missed.
    The enemy **Fungus Attacks our Baakjira and gives Affliction status, but we still have River Nymph who will remove the effect. River Nymph HP decreased do attacking Pelacor Mercenary and got counterattack by Magic Reflect.



  • Round 2 :
    The enemy Uraeus was killed by our Deeplurker, Isgald attacking the enemy Fungus Flinger Although have a higher speed but missed due to the Blind ability the Fungus have. Blind ability will increase the chance to evade the enemy attack by 15%. The enemy Acid Shooter attacked our Pelacor Bandit but missed.



  • Round 3 :
    Our Pelacor Bandit killed the Fungus Flinger, and Isgald killed the Acid Shooter and got a boost to all stats (damage, speed, and HP), due to Bloodlust's ability. Only 1 enemy monster left on the battlefield.



  • Round 4 :
    The enemy Pelacor Mercenary was attacked by 4 of our monsters although It had Healed and a Flying ability the speed was slow compared to our monsters it couldn't do much and died at round 5 poisoned and got attacked by Pelacor Bandit, and the victory become ours.

Did your Strategy Work?

Our strategy is to use strong tankers at the front to ensure there are no attacks from the front for a while, prioritizing rear attacks using the abilities Sneak, Opportunity, and also increasing speed with the aim of keeping our tankers in the rear position Pelacor Bandit is difficult to hit and our monsters can attack first to kill the enemy. The most dangerous enemy monster is Katrelba Gobson which every round can give a total of 6 damage with its Double Strike ability and also has the ability Bloodlust, at the start of the round with high speed and damage, we can kill this monster quickly, and Iza the Fang so that the enemy's attack ability is reduced a lot, and only causes small damage to our monster. We can freely kill the enemies in the back one by one.
