Iziar and Double Triage, the Last Storm Giant, Defender of the magic attack

Greetings to all Splinterlands players! this is my entry for Social Media Challenge this is a popular event held by Splinterlands every week. The theme today is Iziar, New Monster from Soulbound reward card. I only have it at level 1, it has a rarity legendary, in this battle I can bring monsters with rarity legendary at level 4. This card has 2 damage, 3 speed, and 12 HP. Has Taunt and Void ability which is the determinant of victory in this ruleset.

This is a battle in the Modern Format Gold League, I played with my scholar account from Balthazar.

The guide presents a strategy on how to advance through the ranks by utilizing reasonably priced or cheap-to-rent monsters that can still prove effective.

Ruleset

From left to right :

  • Wands Out, Only a monster with a magic attack can be used in this battle.
  • Reverse Speed, The slowest monster become the fastest monster in this ruleset.
  • What Doesn't Kill You, all monster have the Enrage ability.
    • Enrage ability is a special ability of Monsters that can increase Melee attack and Speed when the character is damaged
  • Have mana cap 44.
  • We can choose the element Fire, Water, Life, and Death.

My Lineup and strategy

We will first talk a bit about the monster theme in this battle War Pegasus :

At level 1 this monster has the ability Taunt, and Void at level 3-4 he got ability Martyr which is very useful to make another monster adjacent to it got increased of all stat if this monster die, magic damage and HP increased to.

Strength :

  • Taunt (make all monster attack this monster if can) and void (the magic damage become half) ability is perfect combination for Wands Out ruleset.
  • Have high HP

Weakness :

  • No armor
  • Magic damage only 2
  • High mana cost requirement

Based on the ruleset for this battle we have something to think off :

  1. Highly recommended to bring monsters or summoner with Void, phase, Void armor, heal or magic reflect ability.
  2. Monster with high HP and great magic damage is recomended. Having monster with high speed and Phase ability will help a lot.

Base on that guidelines In this battle we choose to use Life elements, because we have new monster Iziar from Soulbound reward card, this monster have taunt and void ability, many ability include in this battle like void armor, repair, triage, resurrect, strengthen we will see how good this ability work together to defeat the enemy.

This is our lineup from left (first position) to right (last position) :

Summoner/monster and SkillsDescription
The Grandmaster Rathe (summoner), make all friendly monster have Armor, Void Armor and Amplify abilityThis monster will give all friendly monster +1 armor, change the armor to void armor (magic damage will hit armor first before the HP), and amplify (reflect magic back)
Dax Paragon, 1st position, tanker, and attacker. Has the ability Amplify, Affliction.Affliction is usefull skill if the enemy bring monster with heal ability, if the monster hit by Affliction status it can't heal, the chance for inflicting the status every time this monster attack is is 50%.
Magi of Chaos, 2nd position, 2nd tanker and attacker. Has the ability OppressPlaced in second place as a second tanker because have high HP, this monster have great magic damage of 3
Djinn Renova, 3rd position, attacker and support. Has the ability Strengthen and TriagePlaced in 3rd position because it have usefull support ability which is Triage to heal our taunt monster in the last position, so we want this monster to safe from attack as long as possible, so i put it behind Magi of Chaos. The Strengthen ability she has is another good ability which give all friendly monster +1 HP.
Spirit Hoarder. 4th position, attacker and support. Has Triage, Dispel, and blind abilityLike Djinn Renova has Triage which is very usefull skill in this battle, Dispel ability can erase the effect off buff from the enemy monster, like Martyr ability which is very famous ability and have been use by many player in battle.lately.
Adelade Brightwing, 5th position, attacker, and supportwhen the armor change to Void armor, repair become very usefull, because no matter how big is the magic damage it will always hit armor first before it can decreased the HP. It has Resurrect the ability to make monster alive again after the HP become 0.
Iziar 6th position, Attacker and TankerPlaced in the last position so the enemy damage can be split with the monster in first position, another reason because Triage ability (heal) need the monster not in the first position, This monster have Taunt ability, this make all enemy magic monster will hit this monster except the enemy monster in the first position. We depend on Void ability to make this monster survive longer.

The Battle

Round 1 :
As usual, the battle starts with buffs and debuffs, the enemy brings a monster that is quite difficult to kill for our monster, Djinn Muirat, this monster has the ability to reflect Magic which can return damage to the attacker, and has void armor. Also the enemy brings 2 monsters with the Life leech ability which can increase their HP every time they attack

  • Enemy side :

    • No monsters die.
  • Our Side :

    • Iziar who has the Taunt skill is under attack from 5 enemy monsters with a total of 12 magic damage, fortunately Iziar has the Void ability even though his HP is only 11 can survive enemy attacks.
Iziar in this round was also poisoned by Venari Bonesmith's ability.

Round 2 :

  • Enemy side :
Djinn Muirat was killed by Dax Paragon

-Our Side

  • Dax Paragon is still alive because Adelade Brightwing's Repair ability.
  • Iziar, who was poisoned and received many attacks, is still alive thanks to the Tank Heal ability from Spirit Hoarder and Djinn Renova.

Round 3 :

  • Enemy side
    • Magi of Chaos was killed by Djinn Renova.
  • Our Side
    • Dax Paragon was killed by Magi Necrosi, but was revived by Adelade Brightwing.

Round 4 :

  • Enemy side

    • Magic Necrosi was killed by Adelade Brightwing
    • Life Sapper was killed by Iziar
  • Our Side
    No monsters die.

In this round it has been seen that we will definitely win, there are only 2 enemy monsters left.

Rounds 5-6
We skip straight to round 6, because the fight is not interesting enough, because the enemy has lost his attack power.

  • Venari Spellsmith was killed by Dax Paragon in round 5.
  • Venari Bonesmith died under attack by Djinn Renova and victory is on our side.

Did your strategy work?

The strategy worked well. The combination of abilities Repair, Double Triage, Taunt, Void, and Strengthen, worked very effectively along with the Summoner Grandmaster Rathe, who made all of our armor become Void Armor. The enemy's magic had to hit our armor first before hitting our HP, which allowed the Dax Paragon to stay alive until the end of the round.
The other reason Dax Paragon was able to survive until the end thanks to the Resurrect and Repair abilities from Adelade Brightwing.

The battle lasted quite long due to the reduction in our magic damage caused by the enemy summoner's ability.

I have used this Iziar strategy many times in battles with the Wands Out ruleset, and the win rate is quite good. And the most important is this monster is free to use no need to rent it. U just need to get it from the chest by luck 😀.
