Ruleset

  • Earthquake, starting from round 2 each monster who not have Flying ability will take 2 melee damage at the end of each round.

  • Wands Out, only monster with magic damage can be use in this battle.

  • Odds One Out, Only monsters with odd mana cost can be used in this battle.

  • Mana cap.

  • Can use element Life and Earth.

My Lineup and strategy

Because all monsters must use magic attacks, we decided to use the Life Element which has the Iziar monster which can reduce magic damage by half and has the Taunt ability to force all enemy monsters that are not in the first position to attack it.
With the Taunt ability we will divide the damage from the enemy between the tanker/monster in first position and Iziar. The summoner can also add armor useful for withstanding damage from the Earthquake Ruleset.
And the most important thing in the Life element is Adelade Brightwing who is immune to the Earthquake ruleset because she has the Flying ability and can also repair the armor of our monsters.

Summoner or monsterAbilitiesDescription
The Grandmaster Rathe(summoner), make all friendly monster have Armor, Void Armor, and Amplify abilityThis monster will give all friendly monster +1 armor, change the armor to void armor (magic damage will hit armor first before the HP), and amplify will Increases Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns damage to all enemy monsters by 1
Temporal Master, 1st position, attacker and tanker. Has the Ability Recharge and Stun. This monster if alone not suitable for use as a tanker, but if we bring Iziar this monster will receive damage from all monsters that are not in first position. So only the monster in the first position will attack the Temporal Master. Adelade Brightwing will restore the armor of this monster every round. This monster will attack once every 2 rounds with damage equal to 3x normal damage, and there is also a chance of stunning the enemy by 50%. With the large damage and armor repair from Adelade, it is hoped that this monster can last a long time and can launch many attacks.
Djinn Renova, 2nd position, attacker and support. Has the ability Strengthen and TriagePlaced in 2nd position as a backup tanker because has good HP. This monster has an important task to Heal Iziar. The Strengthen ability she has is another good ability that gives all friendly monsters +1 HP.
Spirit Hoarder. 3rd position, attacker and support. Has Triage, Dispel, and blind abilitiesTriage ability can heal monsters not in the first position, this is the reason we use this monster to heal our monster Iziar. The Dispel ability can erase the effect of the buff from the enemy monster in the first position, Blind ability will increase the chance for all our monsters to evade the enemy range and melee attack by 15%, but it is useless in this battle because our monster not have Phase ability (ability to evade magic attack). Placed in 3rd position because we want this monster to get a boost in stats from the Martyr ability from Iziar, with Martyr can prolong the life of this monster.
Iziar 4th position, Attacker and Tanker. Has the ability Taunt, Void, and Martyr abilityPlaced in the 4th position so the enemy damage can be split with the monster in the first position, and we want this monster Martyr ability (every time this monster dies will increase all stats of friendly monsters adjacent to this monster) to boost the stats of monster in the 3rd and 5th place. This monster has a Taunt ability, which makes all enemy if can will attack this monster. With the Void ability will half the damage of the magic attack. Apart from that, this monster also has a large HP.
Adelade Brightwing, 5th Position, Attacker and Support, has the ability Flying, Repair, Resurrect, Immunity, and Swiftness.Placed in the last position to get Iziar boost from Martyr's ability also to protect this monster from the attack. This monster is important in this battle. The Flying ability will ignore the effect of the Earthquake. The Resurrect ability which is very useful for reviving our monster Iziar, is the main reason we use this monster to double the effect of the Martyr ability. The ability Swiftness will help all our monsters to get a +1 speed boost so can increase the chance to attack first, evade the enemy attack, and hit the enemy. Repair ability will restore our monster armor in the first position.

The Battle

The battle started with buff and debuff, The enemy brought anti mage Summoners Immortalis who gave all the enemy monsters void ability, Shatter ability and can decrease our monster's HP by -1.

  • Void ability, decrease the damage of the magic by 50%,
  • Shatter ability destroyed the enemy armor every time it was hit by the attack.

This summoner has a very high percentage of wins in battles that only use magic, unfortunately on my scholar account I don't have this summoner, so we will use an alternative replacement. We rely on the monster Iziar which has the Void ability and also the Triage ability (heal).

The enemy brings a monster with Taunt ability Mycelic Slipspawn and puts it in the first position

  • Round 1:
All enemies attacked our Iziar except Mycelic Slipspawn who attacked our Temporal master. Our Iziar heal by Spirit Hoarder and Djinn renova Triage ability. The enemy Mycelic Slipspawn after receiving damage from 4 of our monsters only left with 6 HP, and our Iziar left with 11 HP. Our Temporal master armor was destroyed hit by the enemy Mycelic Slipspawn but was restored by our Aldelade Brightwing.

  • Round 2:
The Earthquake ruleset started in round 2, giving damage to the armor or to the HP of the monster who doesn't have any armor or Flying ability and killed the enemy Djinn Biljka. The enemy Mycelic Slipspawn dies killed by our Temporal Master. The enemy Regal Peryton moves to the first position.
Our Iziar got healed again from Spirit Hoarder and Djnn Renova at the end of this round left with 11 HP. Our Temporal Master armor was restored again by our Adelade Brightwing back

  • Round 3:
At the start of the round the Earthquake damaged all monsters who did not have Flying ability again and killed the enemy Spirit Hoarder, only left 2 enemy monsters on the board Runemancer Florre and Regal Peryton who were immune to Earthquake because Regal Peryton have Flying ability. No monster die again, our Temporal Master tanker in the first position left with 3 HP because hit by the enemy Regal Peryton, but the armor was restored again by Adelade Brightwing. The enemy Regal Peryton only left with 1 HP in this round.

  • Round 4:
Hit by the Earthquake our Spirit hoarder dies but is revived by Adelade Brightwing. The enemy Regal Peryton died killed by our Djinn Renova. Our Temporal Master with Recharge ability hit the Runemancer Florre give 3x damage and decreasing the Runemancer Florre -3 HP. Runemancer Florre HP only left with 3 HP at the end of the round.

  • Round 5:
Runemancer Florre was hit by the Earthquake and decreased the HP by -2 leaving with 1 HP. Our Temporal Master whose armor is destroyed because of the Earthquake died attacked by the enemy Runemancer Florre. Our Djinn Renova moved to the first position and attacked the Runemancer Florre and killed it. The victory becomes ours.

Did your Strategy Work?

Our strategy of using the Martyr ability to increase our monster's stats didn't work because our monster Iziar never died in this battle. Our strategy of dividing the damage between the monster in the first position and the monster that has the Taunt ability by combining various support abilities was successful. Abilities that we use in this battle:

  • Triage Djinn Renova and Spirit Hoarder: heal monsters that are not in first place, precisely to heal monsters with the Taunt ability Iziar.
  • Buff to increase armor from our summoner Grandmaster Rathe by 1 and change it to Void Armor: magic attacks that hit our monsters must destroy the armor first before they can reduce our monster's HP.
  • Flying ability from Adelade Brightwing which ignores damage from Earthquake so it can focus on restoring our monster armor in the first position Temporal Master with the Repair ability, Temporal Master can survived until the 5th round even though it received an attack from the enemy monster in the first position which had greater damage, and also received damage from Earthquake.
  • Void ability from Iziar to reduce magic damage by 50%.
  • Strengthen ability from Djinn Renova which increases all our monsters' HP by 1.

I think I found the Immortalis Weakness?

Even though the Summoner used by the enemy has a high percentage of wins in Wands Out battles, due to the Odds one Out ruleset, several enemy monsters that have the Tank Heal ability (heal the monster in first position) or the Triage ability that have even mana cannot used:

The absence of Goblin Psychic means that enemy monsters do not have Affliction abilities which can make monsters affected by Affliction unable to heal anymore.

Likewise, enemy monsters can restore their own HP every round because they have even mana and cannot be used in this battle:

So, in my opinion, this is the weakness of the summoner Immortalis, with Wands Out and Odds one Out rulesets where the mana cap is 37 or more (we only use 37 mana in this battle), it is better to use Grandmaster Rathe, because you can use the Djinn Renova monster which has the Triage ability and also has armor repair from Adelade Brightwing. Maybe further tested is needed.
