Ruleset

From left to right :

  • Going the distance, only monsters with range attack can be used in this battle.
  • What Doesn't Kill You, all monster has Enrage ability.
    • Enrage ability, has increased Speed when damaged, multiplier x1.5 rounded up.
  • Heavy Hitters, all monsters have the Knock Out ability.
    • Knock Out ability, does double damage when attacking an enemy that is stunned.
  • Has mana cap 28.
  • Can use the element Fire and Dragon.

My Lineup and strategy

  • For this Going the Distance ruleset, I will always use summoner Quick the devious from Dragon Element because it can reduce the enemy range damage.
  • For the tanker (monster in front), I'm looking for the monster with these criteria :
    • Have the Flying ability and good speed, so have more chance to evade the enemy attack, or
    • If we can't find the monster with the Flying ability, then we can try other abilities like Dodge ability which is the same as Flying (25% increase chance to evade the enemy attack), or
    • Monster with high speed, or
    • Monster who has good armor or HP.

This is my lineup :

Summoner or monsterAbilitiesDescription
Quick the Devious, Summoner. Can decrease enemy monster magic speed and range damage by -1We used this Dragon summoner because it can decrease enemy range monster damage and make our monster attack first by reducing the enemy's speed -1
Zyvax Vuul, 1st position, Attaker, and Tanker. Has the ability Flying, Recharge, Close Range, and Deathblow. We put this monster in the first position because it has good HP and Flying ability which can increase the chance to evade the enemy attack by 25%. The speed of this monster is not that great, but combined with Flying, it becomes rather good; maybe it can evade the enemy attack. And the most important thing is this monster can attack in the first position, although it has a ranged attack because of the ability Close Range. Too bad this monster can only attack once every 2 round; with the ability to Recharge, it can give double damage to the enemy every time it attack. Deathblow ability is rarely seen in use; this ability will increase the damage giving double damage if it hits the last monster in the enemy team.
Xenith Archer, 2nd position, Attacker. We put this monster in 2nd position because it has a low mana requirement and overall good stats for becoming 2nd tanker; it has no ability, so put it here to protect the monster in the 3rd position (Firewatch Devil). Give the monster time to Life Leech more enemies.
Pyrewatch Devil, 3rd position, Attacker. Has the ability Life Leech and Dispel.I used this monster because it has the ability Life Leech (every time this monster attack will increase the HP according to the damage he inflicted on the enemy), I hope when Xenith Archer die, this monster already has good HP to be a tanker. Dispel ability will clear all positive buffs from the enemy. It is beneficial if the enemy brings a monster with Martyr ability (if a monster dies, it will increase all monster stats adjacent to it by +1).
Naga Assassin 4th position, Attacker. Has the ability Backfire and Swiftness. We put this in the third position hoping that with the high speed can evade several enemy attacks while our monster in the backline attack. When this monster evades, the enemy attack will activate the Backfire ability and maybe can kill the enemy.
Supply runner 5th position, Attacker. Has the ability Swiftness and Strengthen.Use this monster especially because it has a Swiftness ability like Naga Assassins with high speed, hoping the monster in front can evade the enemy attack and may attack first. Hence, it has a higher chance of killing the enemy before they can attack. Strengthen another cool support ability, increasing all HP of friendly monsters by 1. This ability will increase the chance for the monster in front to live longer. Put this in the 5th position because it has good speed. This will be the last tanker for our team.
Lava Spider, 6th position, attacker. Has the ability Snipe, Snare, and poison.I put this monster in the last position because I think the most important monster for this battle, especially because of the Poison ability; if the enemy is inflicted with the status poison every round, their HP will decrease by 2. Usually, monsters with range type do not have much HP. The Snare ability will make all the Flying abilities in the enemy monster disabled, increasing the chance for our monster to hit the enemy. Snipe ability will hit the enemy monster (range, magic, or not having any attack monsters) who is not in the first position. I prefer this monster not to have that ability in this battle because I want to focus fire monster in the first position.

The Battle

  • Round 1:
The battle started with buff and debuff, as usual.
We can see how effective the Flying ability Zyvax Vuul, the attack from the enemy monsters Supply Runner, Naga Assassin, and Scavo Firebolt can be evaded by our monster Zyvax Vuul. Meanwhile, our Lava Spider tried to hit the enemy monster Naga Assassin but missed and got damaged because of the ability Backfire. The enemy put a monster with Martyr ability in the front to increase all stats of Gargoya Devil; in this round, we can see this monster die, and all stats of Gargoya Devil behind increase (damage, speed, armor, and HP). But our Firewatch Devil disables all the boosts from the martyr ability.

  • Round 2:
In this round, Zyvax Vuul managed to evade the attack from Naga Assassin but finally died after being attacked by the enemy Xenith Archer. Our Xenith Archer moves to the first position. Pyrewatch Devil HP is increased because of the ability of Life Leech, too bad he only has 1 damage because of the debuff.
Until this round, our Lava Spider still not have inflicted the poison status to the enemy monster.

  • Round 3 :

    • Our **Naga Assassin ** killed the enemy Gargoya devil.
    • Out Xenith Archer killed by the enemy Supply Runner.
Finally, our Pyrewatch Devil now has 7 HP, moved to the first position.

The enemy Naga Assassin is hard to hit because the Speed increase becomes 11 after being hit by our Lava Spider.

  • Round 4:

    • our Pyrewatch Devil, died in this round, killed by Scavo Firebolt.

So now the Naga Assassin from both sides shows in the first position.

  • Round 5:

    • The enemy Naga Assassin killed by our Supply Runner
    • Our Naga Assassin now has 11-speed, manages to evade the enemy Supply Runner attack.

  • Round 6-8:
    • At around 6, our Supply Runner killed the enemy Xenith Archer, and the enemy Supply Runner's damage was reflected by our Xenith Archer Backfire ability and killed it.
    • In rounds 7-8, the enemy can't do anything because it only left 1 monster, the Scavo Firebolt, and it can't attack in the first position. In round 8, our Supply Runner killed the Scavo Firebolt, and the victory become ours.

Did your Strategy Work?

Yes, the Strategy is working, although not all according to our plan. Zyvax Vuul, after activating Enrage ability, can evade several attacks before it dies. To bad he doesn't have a chance to attack. Our Lava Spider poison ability is not working; it never activated when attacking the enemy,
Firewatch Devil Life Leech is quite good and can increase the HP of the monster so it can handle several attacks before it dies. Naga Assassin is our hero in this battle; after activating Enrage's ability, the speed increase from 7 to 11, making the enemy Supply Runner who attacks it not have a chance to hit it, instead receiving the Backfire ability twice and dying.
With a good summoner, our monster tanker ability (Flying in this battle), speed, and the correct position, which one to be a tanker and which to put in the last position, our team can win.
