The Best Rebellion Summoners

Hello Splinterfans!

Since Rebellion has dropped, I have been really missing my 3 mana summoners that have rotated out of modern. Mother Khala, Wizard of Eastwood and even Bortus for those low mana battles. Now without Rebellion summoners, there is a minimum of 4 mana or lots of 6 mana ones too.

This has caused me to take a deeper look at the Rebellion summoners and see which ones look the best and maybe look at which ones would be worth getting first of all.

At the moment, I have been strengthening my current deck with Riftwatchers and have bought Fernheart and I think a 3 mana summoner is very useful for those low mana battles.

So far there are 11 summoners in Rebellion and the good news is that there are 5 3 mana summoners to also get. The good thing is that they don't seem so pricey compared to previous summoners and that could be because they don't give any buffs.

No buffs would be normally what you might expect from a 2 mana summoner and not a 3 mana one, but the twist is that these are dual element summoners that work similar to the dragon splinter, allowing you to play cards from 2 splinters that could give you a nice advantage.

The earth splinters are paired with fire or life which would give you quite a few more options in those low mana battles. Currently the most expensive of the 5, are the water cards paired with life and death. The water/death card the most expensive. I presume the market is pricing this summoner as the most useful.

As the main gap in my deck is for low mana summoners, I think I would focus on getting these summoners first. For the gold league I would need at least level 8.

When I check on the market, the cost of the cheapest one with earth and fire would cost me nearly ~125k DEC which is around $125. Therefore to buy the complete compliment is looking at pretty big investment at the moment. As the pack has just launched, by getting the summoners early, you could get a nice advantage in the game though.

The other Rebellion summoners are 5 mana each and they are giving some nice buffs. They have a choice of 2 buffs that you can choose to use with tactic ability and would be very handy to have and also only cost 5 mana. This is lower than the usual 6 you might have for a legendary. Only Akane is the legendary here and his price is much higher than the others so far.

The cheapest of the bunch seems to be Nomos with a -2 magic debuff of your opponent which could be handy but maybe not not so much in the fire deck. I would need a level 6 of him, so that would be 60 BCX, so maybe around $35 to pick him up.

In this magic only battle where he could come in useful, it did not help me much against the mighty Quora, even though I should debuff 2 enemy monsters 2 magic, they both kept 1 magic attack still and defeated me!

Underboss Fabino could be useful in the earth splinter with a +2 melee which could give you a nice advantage if you plan a melee attack with a double strike monster like Grund. Avina of the Wolf is the stand out with the nice +2 speed or heal ability that could turn a few games if implemented correctly.

Still I am not yet confident how to use these summoners yet, so it can be a bit of a learning curve. I can see that later it could become quite a formidable way to win a match and upend some of the bot players.

There are so many choices and only a finite amount of $, so it will be tricky deciding which ones to prioritise. Compared to Untamed and Dice that have rotated out, it doesn't seem that Rebellion has brought in the usual power creep that you might expect. This is a good thing and if you still have some Chaos Legion cards, you could hold out for a while until maybe the prices drop abit further down the line.

Which summoner would you get first?

Thanks for reading.
