Splinterlands Battle Mage - Keep Your Distance

Hello Splinterfans!

This week we have the new Battle Mage Secrets weekly challenge with the ruleset Keep Your Distance.

With Keep Your Distance, you are restricted that you cannot play any melee monsters in your battles. This then narrows down the options of what you can play in the game to either ranged or magic attack. This is then also important to consider what will your opponent play?

Do you think your opponent will play ranged attack, it could be worth to debuff them with Quix the Devious. If you think they will play a magic attack, perhaps some debuff for their magic attack? Depending on the battle mana size it could influence your decision.

In today's battle, I decide to debuff the magic attack of my opponent and in case they have reflection shield, I add some ranged attack.

On to this week's battle.

ROUND 1-4 - Mycelic Slipspawn vs. Magi of Chaos

We face off with a similar idea today to debuff our magic attacks. I however put Mycelic in the tank position but my opponent has him at the back with support with 2 triage monsters! Will that help my opponent when I have the affliction ability?

The ace up my sleeve is that I added some extra ranged attack in case there was some troublesome magic reflection monster or for cases like this with immortalis.

Even though Magi of Chaos is in the tank position, my attack follows the taunt of my opponent's Mycelic in the back position. With most magic attack having no effect, it takes til round 4 until Hunter Jarx takes down their Mycelic.

ROUND 5 & 6

In the next round, Magi of Chaos holds on as Hunter Jarx goes on the rampage and takes out Queen Mycelia.

My Mycelic finally falls in round 6 but Hunter Jarx takes out Spirit Hoarder. Things are looking good so far. I am so happy that I upgraded Hunter Jarx, I love him!

ROUND 7 & 8

Magi of Chaos falls in round 7, followed by Goblin Psychic in round 8. My opponent's Runemancer Florre is on her own!

ROUND 9

With silence removed, my attack is more potent and Runemancer Florre falls easily in the next round.

Summary:

Keep Your Distance ruleset narrows down the playing options but a good strategy is to try and debuff your opponent's attack and keep a ace up your sleeve in case they do something sneaky like put in a magic reflection in there!

Here Hunter Jarx was the deciding factor to help take down my opponent, he didn't expect that and it cost him dearly.

How do you play the Keep Your Distance ruleset?
