Finding value in Splinterland cards – Ant Miners

Hi all,

Been a while since I made a post on this series. Let’s see if I can make more regular posts going forward – your support will help greatly in this 😊

This series was originally intended to determine if there are other aspects of cards that may contribute to increasing its value. Based on your feedback I can focus on more/other things – so feel free to tell me where you want me to go into further detail.
In the past I've included some analysis on where the cards fit in terms of strategy and added a market analysis of the price of the card in previous months. I will also do this in this post (again feel free to suggest what more do you want me to look into).
In this edition I will be looking at the Ant Miners.

Card ID, Editions, and number of cards

This card’s ID number is 248, and it is a card from the Reward set.

Rarity type: Common

Strategy

I will be focusing my analysis on the usefulness of this card in lower leagues (i.e. bronze to gold).
This is a card which only requires 2 mana, making it a good asset for low mana battles. However, it has very low speed and health, making it a niche card. I would advise using it in battles with less than 20 mana and under the Equalizer and/or Noxious Fumes ruleset. Moreover, this card works best under Tarsa, giving a much-needed boost in HP and damage. This card can also prove useful as a secondary tank (even at low levels, without the shield ability).

Market analysis

Ant Miners is a relatively cheap card to get at lvl 1, so I think it should be considered among the cards to get by newer players.
Now let’s look at the last 6 months.

Looking at the graph, the following can be concluded:

  • in regular foil, there seems to be a resistance at about the 0.15$ price range.
  • in regular foil, the spike in 0.6$ seems to be purely market speculation, and did not hold for long.
  • in gold foil, price consistently ranges between 2.5$ and 4.5$.

Please let me know in the comments if there is any further information you would like me to include in future analysis.
Stay safe!
