PRISMATIC POWERS (Weekly Battle Challenge - Prismologist)

When it comes to high-rank monsters, Splinterlands gives us some epic and legendary cards that can be cannon fodders in a battle to leave destructive effects. Great powers require great mana, which is why these cards possess extra damage and abilities.

This week we are testing a very powerful card that not only does ranged damage but also blasts enemies adjacent to the attacked monster.

She is a beautiful magician with ranged attack and Blast ability and is known as Prismologist.

LORE

Prismologist is not just a name but it is a revered title of female fighters who goes through daunting training at the monastery of Peace of Light. These fighter use prisms as a weapon in the battle to shoot light-based magic at the enemies that also cause some damage to adjacent enemies.

The process of making the prism shards is very difficult, first, these initiates learn the magic arts and when they become more skillful, they travel from Shimmer City to the deserts of Draykh Nahka in search of special sand that are used to make prisms.

Making a prism is not a chore for a fainthearted, because each future prismologist has to face the wrath of dragons in battle, they use dragon's fire to heat the sand, and when the sand turns into a glass-like substance, they make a beautiful shiny crystal which shimmers with rainbow colors and vibrant light illuminates from it all the time.

PRISMOLOGIST CARD SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Prismolosgist is a Life element card, it has an epic rarity and requires 8 Mana to be placed in the battle lineup. The level 1 card has 3 Ranged Attack, 2 Armor, 2 Speed, and 4 Health points. When this card is upgraded to level 6, its Ranged attack becomes 4 and Health reaches 5.

The card has 'Blast' ability at level 1, receives 'Forefield' at level 4, and gains 'Silence' at level 6.

LEVEL 1 LEVEL 6

CARD LEVEL SHEET
Prismologist card is a high mana-consuming card, so it is recommended to use this card in high mana battles. Since it is a ranged card, its placement should be at the end of the backline to avoid it reaching the first position, as the ranged attack monster cannot attack at 1st position.

Special Abilities

Blast ability extends reduced damage to the monster adjacent to the target monster.

Forcefield reduces the damage points to 1 from monsters who are 5+ in power.

Silence reduces the magic attack of all enemy monsters by -1.

BATTLE LINEUP

Gargoya Scrapper -

RULESET

(Standard: No restriction or special conditions for battles.)

STRATEGY
It was a 26 Mana battle, therefore I saw an opportunity to use heavy-hitting monsters in the battle against Fire monsters, since Fire units were involved in the battle, the opponent would use Tarsa as a summoner to boost her monsters' melee attack and health.

I selected Camila Sungazer toSthispa, a Dragon summoner, to reduce the melee attack of enemy units. I also used Corsair Bosun as a tank because of his heavy armor and powerful attack.

I placed Primologist in 2nd position, although I could place her in 3rd or 4th, I want to save her from Sneak attacks. Soul Fiend was placed in 3rd position as I thought that the opponent might use Serpentine Spy to do opportunity attacks, but it did not happen.

Venari Crystalsmith took 4th position and did a nice job healing Bosun and keeping him alive until the end of the battle.

Gargoya Scrapper at the last position was used as bait for the opportunity and sneak monsters.

Battle Video
When you watch the battle, you see how Bosun and Prismologist used their heavy-hitting attacks and completely baffled the opponent's monsters. You'll observe the frustration of enemy units as they fall to the ground.

BATTLE COMMENTARY

Tarsa pumps her units with +1 Attack and +1 Health, but Camila Sungazer blunts the sharp edges of the enemy weapon reducing their melee attack by 1 point.

Round 1 to 2
Corsair Bosun and Living Lava fight each other like mad dogs, the heavy attack of Bosun has ripped the armor of Living Lava, but Bosun has also lost his armor, but he is being healed by Venari Crystalsmith making him stand like a bridge pillar.

Prismologist's prismatic blasts have also torn Elven Defender's armor leaving him vulnerable to attacks of Bosun.

Round 3
"Eat my never-melting steel, it will cut your scorching gut into half." Bosun yells with anger and pushes his longsword into Living Lava's stomach and then encircles him, Lava flattens on the ground like dry ash.

Elven Defender is also severely wounded by prisms and crystals thrown by Prismologist and Crystasmith.

Round 4
Injured Elven Defender can barely stand on his feet, as two sharp cuts by Bosun on his legs kneels him on the ground. A grudging voice comes from behind as Prismologist shouts "Brave Elven warrior, my prisms will ease your pain and suffering in an instant.", then a volley of 100 prism shards shreds Elven Defender, tiny blasts from the lightning-fast prisms also kill Scavo Chemist.

Round 5
Djinn Apprentice is now facing Bosun, he is the only monster left on the battlefield.

A slashing hit from Bosun turns Djinn into smoky dust, all the enemy monsters are dead.

"Fire is extinguished, let's go hunt down some undead." Camila says to her units with a grin on her face.

SPLINTERLANDS QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Tell us about your lineup.

As I figured out that my opponent was using Fire units, I used Camila Sungazer to reduce their melee attack, then I experimented with Corsair Bosun and Prismologist to see useful they could be in a high mana battle.

Explain why you put each card in that position and why they are a good fit with PRISMOLOGIST.

Bosun in the first position has nice beefy armor, he can survive 2 rounds easily, although Prismologist was placed in 2nd position due to save her from stealth attacks. But, I used a Healer (Venari Crystalsmith) in the backline which I thought would keep Bosun alive until the end. Soul Fiend and Scrapper are placed as bait to opportunity monsters.

I have provided good details in Strategy section of this post also.

Did your strategy work?

The strategy worked well and I won the battle without losing any units.

What will you try differently next time?

I'll use Djinn Chwala instead of Bosun, as this card has high armor and high health and it also has Thorns to return some extra damage if attacked by Melee Monsters.

Do you like PRISMOLOGIST? Why or why not?

It is a great card for High Mana battles, I usually add it into battles having 30+ mana. The 3-Ranged damage does a nice blast damage of 2 points to adjacent enemies.
