MINION OF CHAOS LORD (Weekly Battle Challenge - Magi of Chaos)

The neutrals of Splinterlands have never taken sides of any element but rather offered their support and services in return for some shiny coins or hefty loots.

Although most of the neutrals align themself with Chaos Legion, they still interact with other Splinters for their personal benefits, since the only source of their bread and butter comes from their shady services and plunders.

Magi of Chaos is one of the powerful neutrals who are masters of magic arts. Magi of Chaos is the pick of this week's battle challenge.

LORE

Known as Heralds of the Legion, they secretly went underground and learned the forsaken knowledge of magic and gathered ancient artifacts to empower themselves.

When they developed the medium to contact Lord of Chaos through the void, they were promised the gifts of great powers by their whispering masters. They helped the Chaos monsters in opening the rifts and came out of their hiding to receive their gifts of great power.

RULESET

(Keep Your Distance: Monsters with melee attack cannot take part in the battle.)

STRATEGY
It was a low mana battle, therefore I had very little choice but to add cards with good damage and health.

I prepared a plan to use a summoner that could buff its allies with Speed and Return Fire buffs, so I chose Ilthain to get both of these perks.

Pelacor Conjurer became a tank in this battle, although he cannot attack he was used to consuming the low magic attack and getting healing support from the backline. But, his flying power helped him evade some attacks and also caused problems for the opponent's Ranged Attacker.

Venari Crystalsmith took the 2nd position and helped Conjurer to stay in shape. He could replace Conjurer and become a tank in case of the death of Conjurer, this would help Magi to keep attacking from behind without taking any damage.

Magi of Chaos was placed in 3rd position to create havoc among the enemy lineup and take them one by one with his chaotic magical powers.

BATTLE COMMENTARY

Contessa L'ament tries to debuff Venari Crystalsmith, but it is useless as he already has 1 Ranged Attack.

Ilthain boosts the speed of his allies and also places a magic shield that can send arrows back to the ranged attackers.

Round 1
Magi of Chaos starts the battle with a rainbow-like magic attack and wounds Riftwing heavily. Death Elemental is targeting Venari Crystalsmith because he is a healer and keeps Conjurer fit for each coming round.

No one dies in this round, but the opponent has a bad feeling about the next round.

Round 2
"Riftwing, may the Chaos consume your power and become stronger." says Magi of Chaos with an echoing voice, Riftwing turns into a dark crystal and explodes into pieces.

Soul Strangler does not know why he is being damaged by his projectiles, he is almost on the verge of death.

Round 3
Venari Crystalsmith smiles and taunts Life Sapper "Hey you crap of in-between, get ready to rot in hell, eat my crystals.", tiny razor-sharp crystals sliced Life Sapper into two halves, and his existence finally meets its destination.

"Hey yo clown of Transylvania, you'll kill yourself if you hit me again.", but Soul Strangler turns a deaf ear to Conjurer's warning, Strangler is flopping on the ground like a fish, and within a few moments, he choked himself to death.

Round 4
Magi of Chaos glides his hands like a maestro, he shapes another wave of chaos magic, and a big burst resounds in the air, Death Elemental has turned into an element of Chaos, lifeless and shrunk.

"His death magic is a child's toy for me." Magi pauses and talks with a smile "Ilthain, if you like my extended services, I'll give you a 50% discount for each hiring."

Ilthain responds "Yep, deal."

SPLINTERLANDS QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Tell us about your lineup.

Using Magi of Chaos in a low-cost mana battle is not that easy, but somehow I managed to place him to work and save the arses of his teammates.

Although, it is all about Heal, Dodge, Damage, and Return Fire.

Explain why you put each card in that position and why they are a good fit with MAGI OF CHAOS.

I have given enough detail in the 'Strategy' section about each card's position and its traits that helped me win the battle.

The enemy had adopted a similar strategy, but if had used Thaddius, I think the result would not be in my favor.

Did your strategy work?

The strategy was fine and worked with a healing unit properly.

What will you try differently next time?

If I remove Magi of Chaos, I'll place 1 or 2 stealth monsters to infiltrate the opponent's backline.

Do you like MAGI OF CHAOS? Why or why not?

I might like it if it had cost me 5 or fewer mana to place in the battle, with the damage and no ability at the initial level this card has a very little use case. But, since it is a neutral card I look forward to using it in high mana battles.
