Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Battle Challenge! (Melee Mayhem)

image.png

I love the idea that the Weekly Battle Challenge changed instead of featuring a monster to represent a ruleset. It is so good to do something different than usual and I hope they will continually do this in the future. The best way would be to mix these challenges, so every week would be more interesting.

This week we need to show a ruleset, which is the Lost Magic and the way I used it to my (dis)advantage in the Battle I played. 😇

My only problem with this new system is that it is very difficult to do battles with the specific ruleset featured for the week challenge, because it is random what you are going to get and even if you have that ruleset you need to win it somehow, which is not always easy. 😏

Melee units can attack from any position.

Prime use case for melee units with Bloodlust. Abilities take precedence where targeting is concerned.

The Melee Mayhem ruleset is one of my favorite ruleset, because it allows the use of any kind of Melee attack monsters from the backline, because all of them will be able to attack from any position. It is important to use the big damage dealers the farther in my lineup to allow them to deal as much as damage possible. 😁

RulesetDescription
Melee MayhemMelee attack Monsters can attack from any position.
Are you not EntertainedOne additional Gladiator card may be used in the battle.

The mana cap was 50, which is more than enough to setup a nice team with a lot of high mana cost monster. The Melee Mayhem is an amazing ruleset and it will be much easier to setup a team on either side. It is important to use few monsters with the Demoralize ability in order to decrease the Melee attacks of the enemy monsters.

The Are you not Entertained ruleset will allow the use of one Gladiator card, whom are the strongest in the game, because of their Bloodlust ability, but only in the case if they can trigger that. 😊

My lineup and the decision behind it!

Summoner
Possibilus the Wise

image.png

Possibilus the Wise is an excellent Water Summoner and his only weakness is his mana cost, which is six. He gives +2 Health to all of his monsters plus the Trample and Reach ability, which will allow him to create amazing melee attack combinations. 😉

Main Tank
Diemonshark
image.png

The Diemonshark cost 8 mana, which is quite a lot, but in return he has a lot of Speed, Armor and Health. Sadly he doesn't have any defensive capabilities apart from his high Speed, but he has a lot of attack damage i nexchange, which will be further boosted if he is damaged using his Enrage ability.

He will be able to Retaliate the incoming Melee attacks if he manages to trigger that ability, which means he will get an extra free attack back to their attacker. The trigger chance will be 50%. 😊

Off Tank
Djinn Oshannus
image.png

The Djinn Oshannus is an excellent off tank and damage dealer, because he has a lot of Health and also has the Void ability like Baakjira, so he is well protected against the enemy incoming Magic attacks. 😆

Extra Off Tank
Baakjira
image.png

My third off tank for this battle will be Baakjira who is an absolutely amazing tank in any kind of battle and his only weakness is that he doesn't have any attack on its own, so it is advised to use a monster next to him who has the Weapon Training ability. Even without that ability he is an important asset for his team, because he has the self Heal and Void ability, which will help him a lot to sustain as much damage as possible. 😇

The Opportunist
Kulu Mastermind
image.png

The Kulu Mastermind is a Melee attack monster with quite a lot of attack damage. His most important role is his Weapon Training ability, which means that he will give his own attack divided by two to his neighbourghs, but only if they do not have any attack on their own.

On top of that they will be able to attack straight away as well, because of the Melee Mayhem ruleset. 💪

The Supporter
Meerdali Guardian
image.png

The Merdaali Guardian cost only 3 mana, so she is an easy fit in to any kind of team. She is a non-attack support monster and she will be able to heal the tank and Repair some of the lost armor on a friendly monster in every round. 😁

Main Damage Dealer
Coastal Sentry
image.png

The Coastal Sentry is the perfect pair with Possibilus, because she will receive the Reach ability, which will enable her to attack from the second position as a melee attacker. She also has the Double Strike ability, so she will be able to attack twice in every round. 😇

My opponent brought Kelya Frendul, because he wanted to take advantage of his Speed buff and the plus one Armor to block an incoming Melee or Ranged attack. 😆

The enemy team was pretty solid as well with a lot of damage and on top of that he had a Disintegrator to reduce the Melee attack of my monsters by one.

In the first round most of the enemy monsters were quicker than mines, but luckily my only one support monster healed my Diemonshark and gave him back some Armor using her Repair ability.

His Baakjira was only a level 2 one and such he didn't have any Heal ability, so my team managed to kill him at the beginning of the second round.

My Diemonshark had quite a lot of Speed thanks to his Enrage ability, so the enemy monsters missed him a lot and he still survived the second round as well and got another batch of Heal and Repair from his Guardian.

In the second round my slower monsters killed their Kulu Mastermind and in the third round it was easy to kill their Noa the Just as well.

In the fourth round my Diemonshark finally killed their Coastal Sentry who had a lot of damage against my team and they even killed their Disintegrator as well.

My opponent only had one Gladiator card left and thanks to my Guardian he couldn't go through the Armor on my Diemonshark, so my team were able to win this battle and lose no one behind. 😊
