Grumpy Dwarf
He's one of the Seven Dwarves. That's right, Grumpy left Disney due to well... personality differences, and uh, now he's here in Splinterlands.
If any of you followed my previous Share Your Battles, I did one with Dark Ha'on, where Grumpy Dwarf pretty much just died. I'll be honest, I'm not too fond of Grumpy Dwarf, in fact, in that battle, Chicken would've been a fine substitute and saved me some mana.
So, this is gunna be a tough one.
Ideal Position & Role
Grumpy Dwarf has 1 Melee, 1 Armor, 2 Speed, and 2 Health and costs 4 Mana, with the ability Reach. IMO he is a very low mana Reach Attacker / Position 2 Tank, and not useful for much else. He becomes more threatening at Level 5, when he has 2 Melee and Enrage, making him a potentially dangerous threat, especially in Low Mana.
Ideal Summoner & Modifiers
Grumpy Dwarf is Neutral, and as such, I have a lot of Summoner options with him, but IMO, he will benefit best from Malric Inferno, Mylor Crowling, or Daria Dragonscale for 'cheaper' choices.
If I were to pair him with a Legendary Summoner (which would require a lot of mana and be counterproductive), I would likely pair him with either Lir Deepswimmer, Chanseus the Great, or Plado Emberstorm.
Grumpy Dwarf will do best in a format which either grants him more Health, such as Equalizer, or more Armor. He will also perform better in Reverse Speed, and IMO, he is only really a suitable card pick for anything under 20 Mana, or as a 'filler' pick.
The Battle Ahead
So, one of my first battles with the mighty Grumpy Dwarf ended up working out quite nicely... With Sneak and Snipe eliminated, and at 16 Mana, I found a good chance to utilize a Grumpy Dwarf, and made a risky maneuver, choosing to do Brownie, Grumpy Dwarf, Chicken, and Mitica Headhunter, with Wizard of Eastwood as my summoner.
My opponent went for Llama, with Failed Summoner and Mantoid?
Grumpy Dwarf's armor paid off here, and gave Mitica the time it needed to absolutely shred through this poor Mantoid. I am unsure if I would've won with the same setup if the Mantoid had been able to use its Snipe ability.
Reflection
I think this battle is about as lucky as I'll get with Grumpy Dwarf, who is not a personal favorite of mine, so I'll take it.
