Journey to Champion [2] - Best Free Water Deck

Hello everyone!

On the second post of the series, I would like to show one of my first games of the season in Bronze III - this was a 30 Mana game at 162 Rating. This follows from my previous post (please see!!!), as I rented the Sea Monster for 0.1 DEC/day, whilst all other cards of mine were STARTER CARDS AND FREE.

The opponents deck (all Level 1) :

. Tank - Bone Golem
As the primary tank starter card in this splinter, it's Void ability, reducing damage from magic attacks, and large health/shield result in it being a durable and strong choice.

. Second - Haunted Spirit
Arguably the most used starter Death card, its large health and Heal ability mean that it can withstand damage for several rounds, and serves effectively in drawing fire from Ranged attacks and stepping in as a secondary tank in emergencies.
With a Mana of 5, this cheap card will be in every Bronze Death deck you will face.

. Third - Twisted Jester
With the Snipe ability, and a good damage of 2, the Jester is a solid choice for any position.

. Fourth - Skeleton Assassin
A very common card, due to the Sneak Ability, it is invaluable in taking out the opponents last card. The high speed of 4 means it often attacks first, killing any weaker cards.

. Fifth - Grim Reaper ( not a starter card - $0.70 on the market as of 02/08/21)
This is a very interesting card, as it can apply Affliction when it attacks, causing the enemy card not being able to heal itself. The Reaper is a very powerful counter to common healing cards, like Cerberus, making it a valuable investment. However, a Mana of 6 and health of 3 means it must be used in specific circumstances.

. Sixth - Undead Priest
This is a personal favourite in my own Death decks, as it reduces all enemy card's health by 1. This gives you an immediate advantage at the start of the battle.

COUNTER:

As I personally use a very similar Death deck, I knew how effective it was. The opponent had used many of these cards in previous games, so I knew that they clearly had great success with it.

My Water Deck ( all level 1):

. Tank - Sea Monster
Whilst a pricey option at a Mana of 8, I believe this has been the MOST INFLUENTIAL card in my success last season. The high damage was effective, beating the Bone Golem in a Round, however, the opponents combo of Undead Priest and Reaper meant it had reduced health and no longer healed damage. Yet, the card still lasted 2 rounds!

. Second - Water Elemental
Another healing card with a Mana of 5 and a high speed of 4, this is the best ranged starter Water card. By placing it in the second position, it was attacked a lot and going to 1 Health in Round 1. The Heal meant it survived to Round 4, drawing more fire when it stepped into Tank position

image.png

. Third - Medusa
Using Alric Stormbringer to raise Magic attacks by 1, the Medusa proved to be a hard-hitting card, lasting the whole game to Round 6. The versatility as a melee or ranged card, whilst decimating any tanks health, means that the card is a must-have in a Water starter deck.

. Fourth - Enchanted Pixie
The Medusa's effect was compounded by the Enchanted Pixie and Ice Pixie. These cards had a low Mana of 2 each, but a health of 1, meaning that they must be protected in the 4th/5th positions.

. Fifth - Ice Pixie

image.png

. Sixth - Pirate Captain
The card had 3 Health, meaning that it could withstand hits from the Assassin and Jester, holding down the backline. The card in the last position is extremely important, and serves as an effective counter for Snipe ability cards!

RESULT:

I won this match in 6 rounds, with the Medusa and Enchanted Pixie surviving. This helped me win 42 trophies, and was very profitable in terms of DEC. The 0.1DEC spent on Sea Monster Rent was earned 5-FOLD in this win alone!

This is a very powerful deck for any player in Bronze League. I have used this deck multiple times, as the Death deck shown is used very frequently.

With this deck, you WILL be able to beat ANY opponent using a similar Death deck!
