BATTLE LINK -- July 8, 2024 -- Day 190 of 366 vs. @sinpsy
From Modern Champion 3 in Season 138 ranked play, today's pick is a 29-mana battle with 3 rulesets: Healed Out, Silenced Summoners, and Taking Sides. Dragon and life were excluded, so in Silenced Summoners, the cycle of Rebellion dual-element summoners provides twice the options as the summoners from Chaos Legion.
Strangely, my opponent went for Lux, which is one mana more expensive than just picking Kelya for the same effect. Looks like someone did not have the common Rebellion summoners available to them, or just made a human error. I chose Dolfar because I love the aggressive speed and evasion of the 2-mana common null attack monsters from fire and death.
Enter today's featured monster, the Rebellion fire common, Nimbledook Scout. It's the most aggressive of the 2-mana common cycle from Rebellion, getting the blast ability at max level. Paired to get a dual attack next to death legendaries Skok and Zyriel, Scout is a force to be reckoned with.
In this battle, the blast damage from Scout was key to taking out the opponent's Pelacor Bandit next to his Wave Brood in the back. Conveniently, the redemption from Chaos Animator finished it off. Without the threat of Venka due to the Taking Sides ruleset, I felt confident to field a lineup heavy with null attack monsters and weapons trainers.
Outside of the redemption play, Animator didn't really do much as tank since my opponent didn't run any magic attackers. But the seven health and four speed were still useful on a body with three magic attack for 3 mana.
Zyriel's rust was handy, but Dalthin from Rebellion was also an option for a 7-mana range weapons trainer. Zyriel brings a bigger attack and divine shield although it is slower with less health and armor. Either way, it's the null attackers who helped me bring home another 46.6 SPS and nearly 2400 Glint!
