My First Few Days On Splinterlands

This is my first post about being a new Splinterlands player.
I look forward to participating more in the SL community.

An Introduction

I was initially introduced to Splinterlands when it was still called Steemmonsters.
Probably close to a couple years ago. (Has it really been that long?)

Unfortunately, I never invested much time and eventually lost track of my account.
You can see my introductory Hive post HERE for more details.

Hard Lessons

When starting out as a brand new player on Splinterlands, there is one hard lesson most of us will learn pretty quickly:

> You're going to lose most of the time!

In my first two days of playing, it took me 37 matches before I won 13 of them, and completed my first couple of daily quests.

Even though I studied the FAQ, watched countless videos, and read numerous strategy guides from more experienced players…
I still had a challenging time getting thru the battles.

In the beginning...it's all about grinding it out.
But, I know it will get easier with some commitment.

Early Strategy

There's a lot of great advice and strategy guides out there for getting the most out of your Splinterlands experience.
I seem to have gone thru them all… :)

Here's how I put together my initial strategy:
After buying the Summoners Handbook…

I invested enough to top up on 10 days worth of Quest and Mystery potions, along with enough in the DEC balance to get at least one Untamed pack and one Dice pack every day.

Of course, topping up on Alchemy and Legendary potions are a must before opening any pack.

One day at a time,
One pack at a time,
One quest at a time.

A Nice Surprise

Lastly, I have to share a nice little surprise when I opened a pack with the Legendary potion activated.

A beautiful looking card call Yodin Zaku!

It's my understanding that this is quite a valuable card. :)
I look forward to using this summoner in my battles.

Thank you for reading.
Your support and advice is always welcome.

Onwards and upwards...

Sincerely,
Michael
