Splinterlands | Gelatinous Cube Challenge

I've been reading a lot of the previous weekly Challenge posts which highlight a specific Splinterlands Card and found some time to join this week playing the Gelatinous Cube.

There are many cards I have on the max Level for what my Level 5 Summoners can handle that I never ever use. The Gelatinous cube happens to be one of those. I love the healing ability to the extent that I bought a level 6 Golden Albatross to get Double or even Tripple heal on my Water summoner which gives excellent results. The fact that the Gelatinous cube does no damage whatsoever makes it hard to fit into my personal play style.

I usually play quite quick and automated in order to complete the daily quests and rarely find the time to sit down and actually play the game properly. There is a lot that I can still optimize as I never really look at what my opponent played in previous matches. Trying to win a match including the Gelatinous Cube Certainly was a challenge and it took me a 7 game losing streak before getting a win with it.

The main reason I won that match on top was because my opponent was lower rank and didn't exactly played a strong line-up which even included a level 1 card. Battle Video Link

The rules of that particular match were Super Sneak and I played my Golden Furious Chicken at the end which gave the Gelatinous Cube automatically 1 life extra. I tend to go all out on the rules with my decks meaning I played the +1 Melee Fire Splinter with mostly Melee Cards. In the first position, I played Cerebrus Level 5 which I recently purchased. followed by 2 other cheap melee cards and the Fire Deamon which has the blast ability.

Overall I had an easy win, but the 7 games before that I felt I was in a real disadvantage because I pretty much forced the Gelatinous Cube onto the game rules.

Lesson Learned: I learned 1 major lesson today doing this challenge which is that triple heal can easily get countered with the Affliction and get you crushed. I haven't got any affliction cards myself but I will certainly keep on the lookout to get one of those.

I'm really liking this Weekly Battle Challenge initiative and it will be a great way to improve my own game and I'll be going through many of the posts to see how others play it successfully. I also plan to make a post on my Publish0x blog to hopefully get some more new players to join in.
